24H Dubai 2008:

Although forced to drop out of the 24H Dubai, ProSpeed Competition finishes this difficult trial with satisfactory results.
Dubai, 12 January 2008. Starting from the 6th place gained in the qualification trials, the ProSpeed Competition Porsche 996 GT3 RS regularly gained positions from the very start of this third edition of the TOYO TIRES 24H Dubai. After 4 hours of racing, the Rudi Penders – Franz Lamot – Markus Palttala – Mikael Forsten team successfully consolidated an excellent second place in the general.
But a minor collision with another car on a bend altered the course of the race, causing serious damage to the left front wheel and forcing the team to replace a front half-axle.
The vehicle only lost 12 laps thanks to the on the safety-car – on the track because of the rain – and the efficiency of the ProSpeed Competition mechanics, but fell back to 36th place in the general, followed by a furious effort to regain lost time, putting the 996 GT3 RS back in the top 15 after only a few hours.
Electrical problems requiring many minutes work on the vehicle were followed by yet another furious effort to catch up, until the ProSpeed team was finally forced to throw in the sponge towards dawn. Although FIA-homologated, the Dubai circuit has no drainage system, and was completely under water after a rainy night. Surprised by the sudden appearance of a huge puddle, Mikael Forsten was unable to avoid skidding off the track, seriously damaging the rear of the vehicle.
Of this difficult race, Rudi Penders says: "Although we had to give up in the end, still, we were satisfied with the results of the race: 6th place in the qualification trials, best time in the night trials, 2nd place for many hours - all these things encourage us to look forward to our first complete international season with confidence and hope for the future!".
The ProSpeed Competition vehicle was in the running at all times compared to the stars of the FIA GT championship, who were present at Dubai.
