Regulations TOYO TIRES 24H Dubai 2009 and 24H Series 2009
In July 2008 the regulations for the 24H Series 2009 are published. The 24H Series 2009 will start with the 4th edition of the TOYO TIRES 24H Dubai, which will take place on the 8, 9 and 10th of January 2009 at the Dubai Autodrome circuit.
The regulations are based on the regulations of the 24H Series 2008, this means Touring & GT cars up to 4000cc and with a maximum of 6 cylinders are generally admitted. Besides that there are two special classes.
SP1 is a class for silhouette cars (up to 3600cc)
SP2 is a class for special and exceptional cars with a weight/power ratio of 3,7KG/HP or more.
For more information about this new class, look at Classes 24h Series. Regulations 2009 or follow this link: http://web.creventic.com/website/files/Regulations_24hseries2009(1).pdf
Sporting and Technical regulations 24H Series 2009
Compared to the regulations of 2008, there are a few important changes:
At first the HANS system (Head and Neck Support) has become compulsory
To increase competition in class A6 (3500-4000cc) the minimum weight and fuel tank capacity in this class have changed.
To increase competition and decrease the performance gap between a Porsche GT3 cup spec and a Porsche RSR, the minimum weight of the Porsche GT3 cup is decreased to 1200kg. At the same time the minimum weight of the RSR has increased to 1300kg and also the max fuel tank capacity of an RSR is decreased to 90 liters.
Due to the fuel tank capacity reduction of an RSR, the total weight of the RSR with a full tank has hardly increased. With the weight advantage of a Porsche GT3 cup spec and the fuel tank handicap of the RSR, the performance gap will be much smaller. So the racing skills of the driver will be more important. That’s what racing is about!
Technical regulations Class SP2 (cars over 4000cc and/or more than 6 cylinders) are changed.
The initial reason to add this special class is to admit a wider variety of cars which fit from performance point of view, although the engine is over 4000cc and/or has more than 6 cylinders.
To have a measurable indicator, cars will be accepted based on the weight-power ratio. If the weight of the car including driver divided by the horsepower measured on the wheels is 3,7 or more than the car will be accepted.
This weight/power ratio of 3,7KG/HP will be measured by a so called power logger, provided by the organisation. E.g. depending on the actual performance some GT3 and most GT4-cars will fit in this class, to name a few: BMW V8, Ford Mustang FR500 GT4, Marcos Mantis, Panoz, V8 Star Holden, Aston Martin V8-N24, Ferrari, Audi R8, etc.
