Marc VDS take on Zolder 24 Hour challenge 05.07.2012: The Marc VDS Racing Team are pleased to be able to confirm that they will participate in this year's

The Marc VDS Racing Team are pleased to be able to confirm that they will participate in this year's 24 Hours of Zolder on 8/9 September. The team will contest the race with the two BMW Z4 GT3 cars they currently campaign in the Blancpain Endurance Series.


One of the Marc VDS BMW Z4 GT3 cars will be crewed by the team's Blancpain regulars - Bas Leinders, Maxime Martin, Markus Palttala and Henri Moser - while seats are currently available in the second entry.


With a fourth place finish at the infamous 24 Hours of Nürburgring already on their palmarès this season, and the Spa 24 Hours in just under a month's time, the team are already well committed to endurance racing in 2012.  The lure of a 24-hour race in Belgium, however, was a big draw for the squad.


With the organisation at Zolder doing a lot of work to breathe new life into the race, the decision was taken to enter two cars.  Already, strong competition has been confirmed on the entry, which will see GT3 specification cars racing against a variety of other GT and prototype entries, making for a varied and interested field.



Henri Moser: "I'm really happy to get the opportunity to share the BMW Z4 GT3 that's been so successful in the Blancpain Endurance Series and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.  Bas, Max and Markus have got a lot of experience, which is great for me and for the team. 


Zolder is a very big race in Belgium, so we hope we can bring the Marc VDS car to the top, and add ourselves to the list of winners at the prestigious 24-hour race. 


Of course, there's a long way to go before then, with Spa still to come in a few weeks, but it's a fantastic way to end the season for us."




Bas Leinders: Team Principal "Our main focus this year is on an international championship, the Blancpain Endurance Series, but first and foremost we are a Belgian team. We have a busy schedule this season, but we simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to race in front of our home crowd at the 24 Hours of Zolder.


Our BMW Z4 GT3 has already proved competitive for racing around the clock, having finished fourth in the tough 24 Hours of Nürburgring. For Zolder we already have a strong driver line-up in one car; I hope we will be able to secure the services of four equally strong drivers in the second car.


It is important that we go to Zolder with two cars capable of battling for the win, and that's what we're working towards at the moment."
