JMCE Racing 1 fait honneur à son expérience de la 2CV !
Pour leur deuxième édition placée sous la houlette de l'ASBL 2CV Racing Teams, les 24H24' 2CV de Francorchamps ont tenu toutes leurs promesses, avec une épreuve baignée par le soleil en journée... mais aussi par d'importantes nappes de brouillard qui ont entraîné une modification de timing conséquente samedi. C'est finalement à 17h30 que les 2CV ont pu prendre le départ de leur double tour d'horloge... plus 24 minutes ! Et moins de deux heures après l'envol, l'obscurité compliquait déjà la tâche des pilotes.
Si le début de course était marqué par les assauts de différents équipages, tels que les Anglais de Poms Racing (#63, Myatt-Panas-Smith-O'Keefe) ou encore VDM Sport (#62 Verstraelen-Grégoire-Marchandise-Delfosse-Brugman), ces derniers finissaient par rencontrer des problèmes techniques qui permettaient à l'armada de JMCE Racing, présente avec pas moins de 4 voitures engagées en Hybrides, de prendre les commandes de la course. Alors que la mi-parcours était presque atteinte, la #1 de Licops-Licops-Bertho (JMCE Racing 1) et la #37 de Licops-Clerbois-Peiffer (JMCE Racing #2) se retrouvaient au sommet de la hiérarchie, tenant solidement les rênes de la course.
Pendant ce temps, Team Steel 2 (#28, Jamar-Linnertz-Gérard), qui avait perdu du temps en début de course, notamment suite à une irrégularité lors de la procédure de départ, entamait une furieuse remontée. Un tour d'horloge plus tard, Eric Jamar et les siens récupéraient le haut du classement, profitant notamment d'un bris de cardan coûtant la bagatelle de 15 tours à JMCE Racing 2.
Hélas, la #28 n'allait pas beaucoup plus loin, des problèmes de boîte de vitesses entraînant des contrariétés côté moteur. Comme un bloc BMW avait déjà été abîmé lors des essais, l'équipe préférait en rester là... préférant se concentrer sur Team Steel 1 (#8, Depierreux-Biar-Laoureux-Luxen). Ces derniers effectuaient leur apparition dans le top 5 au petit matin, pointant longuement au 4ème rang avant d'être victime d'un bris de commande de boîte les renvoyant en dehors du top 10.
JMCE Racing au pouvoir, mais...
Sur le coup de 7h30 du matin, JMCE Racing 1 menait confortablement la danse et la classe Hybrides devant la #2 de Bruxelles Formation (Sougnez-Collette-Albert-Dersin), leader des Protos à mécanique Citroën. Ludovic Sougnez et les siens devaient néanmoins composer avec la remontée de JMCE Racing... 4 (#15 Crustin-Schoonbroodt-Rodrigues). Rapidement, les deux voitures du JMCE Racing retrouvaient les deux premières places... avant que la #15 ne soit victime d'un accrochage à 11h45, puis de casser un cardan peu après 16 heures.
Un cascade de problèmes qui permettaient à la #1 de Licops-Licops-Bertho de se ménager une confortable avance de 7 tours sur la #2 de Sougnez-Collette-Albert-Dersin. Et même si un problème de moyeu coûtait 4 tours aux leaders, ceux-ci tenaient bon. D'autant que dans le clan Bruxelles Formation, une deuxième biellette de direction cassait à deux heures de l'arrivée, incident suivi d'un souci mineur, mais coûteux en temps, sur un cylindre. Résultat :
JMCE Racing 1 récupérait ses rondes d'avance, précédant cette fois la #11 du Team Manitou (Vandermosten-Graff-Van Hoof) et la #5 RF Motor Sport de l'organisateur Tony Furlotti, accompagné d'Etienne Rosy, Jonathan Vinckier et Frédéric Wowk. Un tiercé de tête qui n'allait plus évoluer... jusqu'à 15 minutes de l'arrivée, lorsque la #5 RF Motor Sport s'immobilisait en bord de piste, de quoi la faire glisser du podium final !
JMCE Racing 1 veillait de son côté à ne plus tenter le diable au cours des dernières heures de course, d'autant que derrière, les chasseurs n'en finissaient pas de s'essouffler mécaniquement. Superbe victoire donc de Léonard et Etienne Licops, accompagnés de Stéphane Bertho. Ils clôturaient l'aventure avec 7 tours de bon sur André Vandermosten, Pascal Graff et Marc Van Hoof, tandis que JMCE Racing #2 (#37 Julien Licops, Eric Clerbois, Daniel Peiffer) profitait des ennuis de RF Motorsport pour retrouver in extremis le top 3, confirmant le succès impressionnant de cette équipe de spécialises de la deuche !
Jusqu'au bout de l'effort...
Si les bolides de la catégorie Hybrides (mécanique BMW) ont trusté les trois premières places du général, les ennuis de dernier heure de Bruxelles Formation ont permis à BNLL (#20, Simon-Roustan-Delatre du Bosqueau-Coppieters) de s'imposer au classement des Prototypes, non sans accrocher une très belle 4ème place finale. Les vainqueurs devançaient finalement Bruxelles Formation, qui a repris le meilleur sur RS Racing (#83, Ragonesi-Hauris-Laurent) en cours des derniers tours.
Du côté des voitures de la catégorie Améliorées, le début de course était marqué par la domination de Toiture Honin 2 (#44 Sophie et Marie Honin-Di Maria-Renaud) et de Sport Moteur Loisir (#79 Dewalque-Lambert-Roosens-Bay), avant que All-Connect Racing Team (#48 Minne-Minne-Swannet) et Speedeuch (#17 Lucas-Lindbergh-De Valkeneer-Ide) ne prennent le relais, terminant dans cet ordre.
Saluons au passage les performances des deux Classics du peloton, voitures strictement de série équipées d'un simple arceau de sécurité, la #69 La 2CV Mania de Famerée-Rodriguez-Garcia terminant juste devant la #68 Team FG des Français Stoekler-Falcone-Hufschmidt-Ehrard aux 38ème et 39ème positions finales. Une catégorie bien sympathique qui risque de rencontrer un franc succès dès l'an prochain...
Au bout du compte, le millésime 2008 de ces 24H24' 2CV de Francorchamps est à marquer d'une pierre blanche, les rebondissements ayant été nombreux, en dépit d'une météo couleur été indien, et même le brouillard n'est pas parvenu à gâcher une fête dont les rois ont été les membres du JMCE Racing 1, équipe qui se voit récompensée après une implication de très longue date (plus de 15 ans) dans les courses de 2CV. Et promis, juré, ils seront de retour l'an prochain pour remettre leur titre en jeu...
