Jean-Pierre "Vande" et Raphaël Aucquier en guise de têtes d'affiche !
Pour la deuxième année consécutive, l'ASBL Braine Auto Club s'apprête à organiser le B-Short de la Haute Senne, épreuve entrant en ligne de compte pour le championnat du Hainaut des rallyes, ainsi que pour la compétition du Brabant francophone des rallyes B-Short. Ces samedi 14 et dimanche 15 juin, ils seront plus d'une septantaine à se rassembler sur la Grand Place de Braine-Le-Comte, afin de commuer la tradition des épreuves routières dans la région.
Si la première journée sera réservée aux contrôles administratifs et techniques, les équipages s'élanceront à l'assaut du parcours le dimanche dès 9h13 du matin. Au programme de l'épreuve figurent quatre boucles de deux spéciales, tracées sur les entités de Braine et d'Ecaussinnes.
D'une longueur respective de 11,0 et 9,9 km, ces tronçons seront à la fois rapides et techniques, exclusivement tracés sur asphalte.
Ceux qui ont eu l'occasion d'expérimenter les parcours de la région savent que les épreuves sont toujours très sélectives, n'ayant rien de promenades de santé. D'une longueur total de 165,9 km, le rallye comptera pas moins de 84,1 km contre le chronomètre. La première voiture passera sur le podium de la Grand Place de Braine-Le-Comte à 9h13, 11h46, 14h19 et 16h52, pour une arrivée prévue à 18h32.
Pour que la fête soit totale, un rallye doit pouvoir compter sur une liste d'engagés de choix. Et force est de reconnaître que les efforts de promotion du Braine Auto Club ont payé, puisque plusieurs pilotes se partageront la vedette pour cette 2ème édition du B-Short de la Haute Senne. C'est ainsi que le récent vainqueur du Legend Jalhay Classic et ex-champion de Belgique Jean-Pierre Van de Wauwer sera de la partie au volant de sa désormais traditionnelle Lancia Beta Monte-Carlo.
Un bolide du temps d'avant, certes, mais qui n'en finit pas de donner du fil à retordre aux voitures modernes. Il est vrai que "Vande" a mis du cœur à l'ouvrage au moment de préparer sa monture. Il figurera en toute logique parmi les favoris de la Haute Senne.
Dans ce conflit des générations, il trouvera néanmoins sur sa route Raphaël Aucquier, habitué des lieux, qui s'alignera au volant de sa VW Polo Super 2000, en guise d'entraînement en vue du Belgium Ypres Rallye, programmé deux semaines plus tard. Si Philippe Dewulf doit encore confirmer sa présence – probablement au volant de la Toyota Corolla WRC -, les organisateurs ne sont pas peu fiers d'annoncer les engagements de gros outsiders, qu'il s'agisse de Frédéric Jamoulle (Skoda Octavia Kit-Car), Stéphane Petitjean (Citroën C2 R2), Vincent Vertommen (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), mais aussi Raphaël Venant, qui se déplacera avec la Subaru Impreza GT qu'il a récemment pilotée au Claudy Desoil.
Une liste à laquelle on peut encore ajouter Cédric Pirotte, toujours plus redoutable au volant de sa Peugeot 205 GTI 1,9, Christophe Verstaen (Opel Astra GSI), Lionel Vanbergen (Peugeot 106), Carol Canone (Ford Escort RS), Ronald Smette (BMW), Michel Baudson (Peugeot 309 GTI), Daniel Simeone (Opel Manta), Anthony Raucroix (Peugeot 306), Francis Listrez (Skoda Felicia Kit-Car), etc. Bref, une liste qui n'a rien à envier à des épreuves de plus grande envergure, ce qui est plutôt bon signe...
