Association Internationale des Circuits Permanents (A.I.C.P.), the worldwide governing body of permanent race circuits, is entering its 57th year of existence. Started as a small union of mainly European circuits, AICP has grown during the years to a nowadays globally recognized association with 40 permanent members from all over the world.
Since the foundation of A.I.C.P. in 1951, many things have changed. Modern standards of motorsport have caused new challenges and requirements for race circuits. Additionally, environmental issues such as noise and alternative energies became more and more important in recent years. To meet this challenge, A.C.I.P. takes this responsibility with great enthusiasm to a global level, motivated to implement operational standards throughout its member circuits.
Review Spring Meeting 2008
Networking has never been as important as it is today. Therefore A.I.C.P. supports its members by offering a platform for the exchange of experiences and information. The most recently held Spring Meeting in Valencia reflected the growing demand for one international voice.
22 representatives from 14 circuits took part in this meeting – more than ever before. An estimated 40 participants from approximately 25 circuits will attend this year’s General Meeting, which will be held in December in Monaco.

Project Groups
A.I.C.P. looks after various key topics which affect race circuits worldwide. Two relevant topics are treated with special attention–noise and alternative energies. Working groups have been set up in order to systematically approach these topics and to bundle competences.
Working group "Noise Reduction"
Nowadays noise is widely considered as one form of environmental pollution. National and international licensing authorities more and more often pledge race circuits to measure and regulate sound generated by motorsport vehicles or other events.
This working group currently analyses and discusses the different existing noise regulations at the circuits in order to evaluate possibilities for an international solution for this issue.
Working group "Alternative Energies"
Global climate change caused by environmental pollution is one of the major topics in our societies – also in A.I.C.P. . This working group is focussing on the creation of concepts combining environmentallyfriendly technologies with the every-day operation of circuits.
Both working groups – "Noise Reduction" and "Alternative Energies" – strive to develop ideas and concepts wherein findings and new technical expertises can be sustainably implemented into the motorsport business.
Cooperation with FIA and FIM
The close cooperation with FIA and FIM representatives underpins the efforts of the working groups and strengthens the relations between race tracks and official bodies. A.I.CP. is represented in both organisations as affiliate member.
