Am 15. März 2008 werden zum 56. Mal die 12 Stunden von Sebring gestartet. Mit dabei auch Pierre Ehret, der bei Tafel Racing zusammen mit Teamchef Jim Tafel und dem Dänen Allan Simonsen ins Rennen geht.
Für den Ferrari F430 GTC wird es der erste Start in der Saison 2008 sein und Ziel für Team und Pilot wird sein in der Spitzengruppe der Klasse GT2 dabei zu sein.
Von allen Fahrern des Teams Tafel Racing, die noch mit einem zweiten Ferrari und den Piloten Dominik Farnbacher, Dirk Müller und Rob Bell starten, hat Pierre Ehret mit fünf Einsätzen seit 2003 die meisten Starts in Sebring. 2007 kam er auf Platz vier und erzielte damit sein bestes Ergebnis. "Wenn wir das in diesem Jahr verbessern könnten, dann wäre das natürlich bei der Premiere sehr schön...", so Ehret.
Doch die Konkurrenz in Sebring ist wie in jedem Jahr sehr hoch und das das Rennen in Florida auch gleichzeitig der 1. Lauf zur American Le Mans Series (ALMS) ist, macht die Sache auch nicht leichter.
"Aber ich denke, wir gehen gut vorbereitet an die Sache ran und dann schauen wir mal, was dabei rauskommt..!"
Nach diversen Test-Session, geht es am Donnerstag, 13. März 2008, in das Qualifying, in der es um die Startplätze für das Rennen geht. Gestartet wird das Rennen am Samstag, um 15.05 Uhr (MEZ) und endet um 3.05 Uhr (MEZ).
Das Rennen wird bei Motors TV (www.motorstv.com) für Europa live übertragen (Samstag ab 14.30 Uhr). Speed Channel (www.speedtv.com) überträgt in den USA live (Samstag ab 9.30 Uhr Ortszeit) den Klassiker. Im Internet findet man die Übertragung unter www.americanlemans.com bzw. http://globecast.workscast.com.
