- Audi A3 and A8 take first place for the fifth time
- Audi A4 and A6 also winners in their categories
- Award ceremony at the AMI Leipzig
Audi is this year once again the winner of several awards for most popular fleet vehicle. The Audi A3, A4, A6 and A8 models each took first place in their respective category in the Fleet Award 2008 sponsored by the trade journal AUTOFLOTTE.
Jörg Felske, Head of Sales for Germany at AUDI AG, and Armin Villinger, Head of Sales for Key Accounts and Direct Customers, were on hand to accept the awards at the AMI Leipzig. "This outstanding showing proves that Audi’s models have continued to delight and impress the majority of fleet customers this year. By taking first place in the most important categories, Audi has once again demonstrated that its model range satisfies its customers’ requirements."
Some 5,000 readers of the magazine AUTOFLOTTE, primarily fleet management decision-makers, voted on the recipients of the renowned awards for the most popular fleet models. In the lower mid-sized category, the Audi A3 came in first place for the fifth time in a row. The new Audi A4 generation was just launched in Europe. Its predecessor once again prevailed over the total competition in its final year to take first place in the mid-sized category.
Audi also performed well in the luxury-class segment with the Audi A8, which was voted the most popular model in its category for the fifth time in a row. The Audi A6 shared in the success as well: The best-selling car in the upper mid-sized category on the premium fleet vehicle market was voted the most popular model for the third time in this year’s Fleet Award.
AUDI AG sold a total of 964,151 cars in 2007 and thus achieved its twelfth consecutive record year. With revenue of €33,617 million and profit before tax of €2,915 million, the company attained its best figures ever. Audi produces vehicles in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm (Germany), Györ (Hungary), Changchun (China) and Brussels (Belgium).
At the end of 2007, production of the Audi A6 started in Aurangabad, India. The company is active in more than 100 markets worldwide. AUDI AG’s wholly owned subsidiaries include Lamborghini S.p.A. in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, and quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm. Audi employs more than 54,000 people worldwide, including 45,000 in Germany.
The brand with the four rings invests more than € 2 billion each year in order to sustain the company’s technological lead embodied in its "Vorsprung durch Technik" slogan. Audi plans to nearly double the number of models in its portfolio by 2015, from the 25 currently on offer to 40.
