BMW Motorrad's first ever appearance at the UK's biggest off-road motorcycle show will be supported by special guest Charley Boorman. The Dirt Bike Show will take place from 16-19 November at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire and Charley will be on the BMW stand (C06, Hall 1) over the weekend to sign autographs and chat to fans.
The Long Way Round star is currently appearing in the Race to Dakar television series, which is being broadcast on Sky Two on Tuesday evenings at 10pm. The six-part series follows Charley's extraordinary journey as he battles to compete in the legendary Dakar Rally with fellow BMW Motorrad team members Matt Hall and Si Pavey. Enthusiasts who have missed the TV series will be able to purchase the Race to Dakar DVD and book from Touratech (stand D26, Hall 1).
The modified Touratech F 650 GS Dakar race bike ridden by Charley in the rally will be exhibited on the BMW stand. Other highlights include BMW Motorrad's new range of 650cc single-cylinder G-series bikes - the G 650 Xchallenge (enduro), G 650 Xmoto (supermoto) and G 650 Xcountry (dual sports). These models offer something for every type of adventure sports rider - whether riding on the dirt, tarmac or a mixture of both.
BMW will also be offering visitors the chance to see the MCN Award-winning
R 1200 GS Adventure. The all-purpose Globetrotting machine currently leads the sales charts by some distance in the Adventure Sport category. The BMW F 650 GS Dakar single-cylinder machine and the powerful HP2 Enduro will also be on display at the event.
If that's not enough to whet the appetite, BMW's dedicated range of off-road clothing will be on show for visitors. This includes the new Enduro helmet, Protector Jacket, Enduro Shirt and Enduro Goggles. Off-road enthusiasts will also be able to find out more information on the incredibly popular BMW Off-Road Skills course from Chief Instructor and Race to Dakar team rider Si Pavey. Si will be on hand to chat to visitors throughout the show.
Tickets for the 2006 Dirt Bike Show cost £13.50 on the door (£7.50 for children aged 7-16). Charley's signings will take place at 12pm and 3pm on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November.
