BMW Motorrad's new R1200 R is finally making its UK debut in dealer showrooms on 16 September. The new roadster received rave reviews from journalists who attended the international press launch early in July and now fans of BMW's all-new naked boxer twin will be able to see it in the metal for the first time.
Every BMW Motorrad dealership will proudly be exhibiting the new roadster in the showroom and taking priority bookings for the first customer test rides.
The new R1200 R is a direct replacement for the outgoing R1150 R and is in fact the sixth BMW to be launched this year. The 109 hp roadster has 28 per cent more power and 17 per cent more torque than its predecessor. It also weighs 20 kilos less than the R1150 R and has been engineered to provide a responsive, dynamic and exciting ride.
From just £8,295 on the road, BMW's new 'classic' also offers the option of many advanced features that are not only unique in its class, but also unavailable from any other manufacturer. These include a new, lightweight ABS anti-lock braking system, a new ASC 'anti-slip' rear wheel control system*, tyre pressure monitoring and electronic suspension adjustment.
As befits all BMW motorcycles, a wide range of options and accessories allow the R1200 R to be equipped for any challenge - from commuting to touring - and for all kinds and sizes of riders. The range of accessories is comprehensive, but includes a larger (or smaller) screen, pannier system, baggage rack and low or high dual seat options.
If fans of BMW Motorrad's new roadster are unable to attend its official unveiling at their local dealership, there are, however, two other chances to see the R1200 R at forthcoming motorcycle events. BMW Motorrad UK will have a presence at the 13th annual Ace Café Reunion, which takes place on 10 September at Brighton's Madeira Drive. Furthermore, visitors to the BMF Tail End Show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough on 16-17 September will be able to test ride the new R1200 R, as well as a selection of other current models (conditions apply).
