Applications and nominations invited for the 2009 Convergators' Awards

Today the application and nomination process got under way for the 2009 Convergators' Awards. The objective is to single out business leaders who have spearheaded the convergence of media, technologies and end-user devices. Sponsored by BITKOM (German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media, Berlin), the Convergators' Awards are being staged for the third time. The award ceremony will take place during the CeBIT trade show in March 2009. Three different prizes are on offer for the "Convergator of the Year": the Jury's Prize, the Public's Prize and the Initiators' Prize.

Entrants are free to submit applications themselves; alternatively they can be nominated by third parties. In either case this has no influence on the final outcome. Nominations and applications must be submitted using a special questionnaire, which is available for downloading at www.convergators.de

All submissions must clearly state to which of the four categories they apply: "Digital Life", "Mobile Content", "Health & Traffic" or "Marketing & Crossmedia". After the final closing date an expert jury will select a shortlist of twelve finalists. These will then be invited to present their innovative projects in person to the extended 14-member jury (chairman: Uli Baur, editor-in-chief of FOCUS news magazine). At the end of this first round the four winners of the individual categories will then be announced.

These four category winners will then compete for two further trophies: the Jury's Prize and the Public's Prize. They are also in the running for the Initiators' Prize, awarded at the discretion of the event sponsors and the chairman of the extended jury.

The Convergators' Awards are a joint effort involving BITKOM, CeBIT Hannover, Ernst & Young (independent consultancy partner), the Serviceplan agency group (a driving force behind the initiative), as well as FOCUS, FOCUS Online and Werben & Verkaufen (communication and media partners).
