Coys International return to the Historic Racing Arena ...

...with support for HRDC Donington trophy meeting

After establishing the original COYS Silverstone meeting as a major international historic race event, this intrepid organisation has channelled its market-leading entrepreneurial skills to developing its international calendar and London showroom venue.


With a desire to return to a hands-on commitment to historic race events, COYS identified the HRDC Donington event as the platform most likely to represent the company's ethos of providing high-octane content and driver commitment.

- W.E COY TROPHY for pre-'60 historic touring cars. (1 hour race;25 mins practice)

 
- THE KENSINGTON CUP for pre-'66 historic Gp2 touring cars. (1 hour race; 25 mins practice)

 
- COYS MEMBERS CHALLENGE TROPHY for pre-'66 historic GT cars under 1500cc. (30 mins race; 15 mins practice)

 
- THE JUBILEE CUP for FIA MGB cars and historic MGs. (30 mins race; 15 mins practice)

 
- COYS NORDSCHLEIFE CHALLENGE for pre-'64 historic Gp2 touring cars. (30 mins race; 15 mins practice)
 


Entries are already flooding in for this one-day event. HRDC Race Director, Julius Thurgood, is upbeat: "Since we opened the entry list, we have been thrilled with the calibre of entries received to date.


Nigel Webb will be bringing two ex-works Jaguar historic touring cars along - he will appropriately be going for outright honours in the Coys Nordschleife Challenge with the ex-John Sparrow Nurburgring Jaguar Mk2, Barry Sidery-Smith will be hustling his ex-Works Le Mans MGB in the Jubilee Cup, Tim Dutton has entered the ex-Jochen Rindt Alfa Romeo GTA for the Kensington Cup, Richard Frankel and Barrie Williams will be looking for a Coys International Trophy podium in Richard's ex-Scuderia Filipinetti Porsche 904/6 and Goodwood Revival 'Driver of the Meeting', Rae Davis, will be pedalling both his giant-killing Austin A35 and the extrovert 'Betty Boop' Mini Jem GT in the respective W.E. Coys Trophy and Coys Members Challenge Trophy. It's looking good for a terrific day of historic racing!"
 


RACING FOR LIFE

'Racing for Life' is a new initiative from the HRDC which will be launched at the Coys International Trophy meeting at Donington on 28 July to promote awareness and raise funds for Neil Cunningham's fight against Motor Neurone Disease. Neil is known to many race fans as an accomplished sports and touring car driver, Bond film stunt man and expert driver on the Top Gear Live road shows.


His popular support of Nigel Webb's historic racing endeavours has brought with it many great race victories. Neil was struck down in late 2010 by this awful disease and is now literally fighting for his life. By publicising his plight, Neil feels that he can not only help himself in his fight to conquer his illness, but also bring more public awareness to the dedicated team who are working around the clock to find a cure for this debilitating and deadly disease.


Neil called Julius Thurgood of the HRDC to ask for help and Julius immediately responded with 'Racing for Life'. All funds raised through the HRDC and 'Racing for Life' will go to MND RESEARCH.
