The Dakar 2013 Challenge is launched

It is at the end of this weekend that we shall know the first competitors officially registered on Dakar 2013. The TOYOTA 1000 DESERT RACE - round of the cross-country South African championship and first date of Dakar Challenge (car category) - will designate the first crew to obtain its ticket to South America.


About 50 % of the racers (representing 26 crews) are enthusiastic with the idea of confronting themselves to the Dakar champions. Therefore they registered on this first date of the Dakar Challenge. The winners will cross the Atlantic Ocean from the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, with final destination Lima.


The calendar of Dakar Challenge labelled events:

    23rd to 25th June 2012: Toyota 1000 Race Desert (Botswana) / Open to the car category


    21st to 28th July 2012 : Desafio Litoral – Dakar Series (Argentina / Paraguay) / Open to the bike/quad and car categories


    15th to 25th September 2012: Taklimakan Rally (China) / Open to the bike category


    21st to 29th September 2012: Australasian Safari (Australia) / Open to the bike category


    29th September to 6th October 2012: Pharaohs Rally (Egypt) / Open to the car category



Dakar Challenge Entry conditions: to never have participated in the Dakar, nor to have finished in the top 10 of an FIM (bikes) all-terrain rally, nor to have featured on the FIA (cars) list of priority drivers.
