19.06.2018: Mit dem Sieg bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans hat Proton Competition den größten Erfolg seiner Teamgeschichte gefeiert.


Mit dem Sieg bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans hat Proton Competition den größten Erfolg seiner Teamgeschichte gefeiert.



Vor 250.000 Zuschauern gewannen Christian Ried (Schönebürg), Matt Campbell (Australien) und Julien Andlauer (Frankreich) das berühmtesten Langstreckenrennen der Welt mit dem Porsche 911 RSR von Dempsey Proton Racing.


Auf dem 13,629 Kilometer langen Circuit des 24 Heures setzte sich der 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 77 bereits in der dritten Rennstunde an die Spitze der besonders hart umkämpften Klasse GTE-Am.



 Diese Führung gab er bis ins Ziel nicht mehr ab. Unter den Augen von Hollywoodstar Patrick Dempsey, einem der Teilhaber des Teams, zeigten die Fahrer auf der Strecke über 335 Runden eine ebenso fehlerfreie Leistung wie das Team in der Box.



Die Mannschaft von Michael Ried aus dem schwäbischen Ummendorf hatte den 510 PS starken Rennwagen optimal auf die besonderen Herausforderungen dieses Klassikers vorbereitet, und auch die insgesamt 24 Boxenstopps klappten wie am Schnürchen.



 Der starke vierte Platz des 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 99 runde den imposanten Auftritt von Proton Competition in Le Mans ab. Der Elfer mit der Startnummer 88, von der Pole-Position aussichtsreich ins Rennen gegangen, kam nicht ins Ziel.

: „Ein Traum wurde Wirklichkeit. Mit diesem Sieg haben wir Geschichte geschrieben. Le Mans ist das wichtigste und am härtesten umkämpfte Rennen des Jahres. Ich bin unheimlich stolz auf das ganze Team, das an seine Grenzen gegangen ist und auch unter schwierigsten Bedingungen alles auf den Punkt gebracht hat. Wir haben verdient gewonnen. Dieser Erfolg ist der Lohn für viele Jahre harter Arbeit und gibt uns großen Auftrieb für den Rest der Saison.“



Patrick Dempsey, Teilhaber Dempsey Proton Racing: „
Mir fehlen die Worte. Alle haben einen fantastischen Job gemacht, es war ein Sieg des gesamten Teams. Das Rennen war unglaublich anspruchsvoll, doch Christian, Matt und Julien haben keine Fehler gemacht. Auch die Mechaniker waren spitze. So gewinnt man Rennen.“


Christian Ried (Porsche 911 RSR #77
): „Dieser Sieg ist das Größte. Die 24 Stunden von Le Mans zu gewinnen, davon träumt jeder Rennfahrer. Das Gefühl, bei der Siegerehrung ganz oben auf dem Podium zu stehen und von Zehntausenden begeisterter Fans gefeiert zu werden, ist Gänsehaut pur und mit Worten nicht zu beschreiben. Ich bin glücklich und dankbar, dass ich das erleben durfte.“



Julien Andlauer (Porsche 911 RSR #77)
: „Ich war mit meinen 18 Jahren das erste Mal in Le Mans dabei, und dann gewinnen wir gleich. Ich bin sehr stolz auf das gesamte Team und kann das alles noch gar nicht richtig glauben. Jetzt bin ich der jüngste Klassensieger in Le Mans. Unfassbar.“


Matteo Cairoli (Porsche 911 RSR #88)
: „Ich bin sehr enttäuscht, dass wir ausgefallen sind. Die Aufhängung ist gebrochen, und ich konnte das Auto leider nicht mehr abfangen.“


Patrick Long (Porsche 911 RSR #99):
„Es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht, das Auto hier zu fahren. Besonders die Stints in der Nacht habe ich sehr genossen. Schade, dass es trotz unserer Aufholjagd nicht fürs Podium gereicht hat.“
