DOMOTEX HANNOVER 2009 reports lively interest from exhibitors:
* 85 per cent of available display space already booked
* Refurbishment of Nord 1 entrance area and integration of Hall 18 brings welcome improvements in access and layout
* Start of registration for the Carpet Design Awards 2009
Exhibitor registrations are now coming in for DOMOTEX HANNOVER 2009, which takes place from 17 to 20 January at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds. Organizer Deutsche Messe AG in Hannover reports many serious inquiries from companies in all segments of the floor coverings industry.
"We are already seeing an enormous response from firms, following the great success of DOMOTEX HANNOVER 2008, and they are very interested in using the industry's premier international platform to promote their own business next January", says Stephan Ph. Kühne, a member of the Board of Management at Deutsche Messe AG, when asked to sum up the current state of negotiations with prospective exhibitors.
According to the event organizer, 85 per cent of the available display space for DOMOTEX HANNOVER 2009 has already been booked. With seven months still to go before the start of the show, this is an extremely encouraging sign, says Kühne. The industry's leading trade fair is clearly in excellent shape for next year.
Deutsche Messe AG expects a total of approx. 1,350 exhibitors - domestic and foreign - at DOMOTEX HANNOVER 2009. They will occupy approx. 92,500 square metres of display space. The industry's top decision-makers from over 80 countries will be coming to Hannover next January to find out what is currently on offer from the world's manufacturers of carpets and floor coverings.
Improvements in access and layout
The Nord 1 entrance area, which has always been one of the most heavily used entrances to the Exhibition Grounds, is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment. In addition to an aesthetic makeover, the new building will also offer improved functionality in terms of directing the flow of visitors and facilitating the registration process.
The construction works are scheduled for completion in December 2008. Visitors arriving from the north will in future be channelled through the new entrance straight into Hall 18 and so into the display area dedicated to hand-made carpets.
The basic layout of the DOMOTEX exhibition area remains unchanged for next year. What is new, however, is the integration of Hall 18 to house parts of the presentation by suppliers of Oriental carpets. Next January this display category will occupy Halls 14 to 18.
The inclusion of Hall 18 will improve the flow of visitor traffic through the exhibition complex to the benefit of exhibitors and visitors alike, as it creates a direct link with the displays in Halls 2 and 3, which focus mainly on machine-made carpets. This is something that exhibitors have long been pressing for - and now the construction work on the Nord 1 entrance area is fulfilling their wishes in time for DOMOTEX 2009.
Carpet Design Awards
Next year the Carpet Design Awards (CDA) will be presented for the fourth time. Worth a total of 10,000 euros in prize money, these awards are given for creative and innovative design in the hand-made carpet segment. Carpets entered in the competition will be judged in ten categories. Only exhibitors at Domotex HANNOVER 2009 are eligible to compete, and all entries must be received during the period 3 September - 5 November 2008.
The winners will be chosen by a jury of distinguished professionals at the CDA presentation at Domotex HANNOVER 2009. The competition is staged in association with the British trade journals HALI and modern carpets & textiles for interiors (MC&T) and is supported by the European Carpet Importers Association (EUCA).
