HANNOVER MESSE 2008, 21 to 25 April
International experts offer insights into industry and research at Innovations for Industry Forum
Taking place during the MicroTechnology trade fair under the umbrella of HANNOVER MESSE 2008 (21 to 25 April), the IVAM Product Market at has sold out. Staged on around 1,000 square meters of display space, the "Micro, Nano, Materials" Product Market features 75 exhibitors displaying the latest trends in industrial applications.
Produced by the IVAM Microtechnology Network, the joint pavilion features the first-ever "Lasers for Micro-material Processing" special display, focusing on innovative methods and laser applications involving high-precision production. As the official partner country at HANNOVER MESSE 2008, Japan will be represented at the IVAM Product Market with its own Micromachine Center. The Micromachine Center includes companies like Olympus, Omron, Panasonic und Mitsubishi.
"The MicroTechnology show is the flagship event for applied micro and nanotechnologies. There we display materials that have unique characteristics and also inform visitors about system integration and state-of-the-art production techniques for systems and components that combine a multiplicity of functions in a small amount of space," declares IVAM Managing Director Dr. Uwe Kleinkes.
Featuring over 60 talks by international experts, the "Innovations for Industry" forum is dedicated to the continuing trend towards miniaturized industrial solutions. Micro and nanotechnology plus new materials offer countless options for creating innovative products and refining existing ones.
Key topics at the forum include microproduction and microsensors, with presentations for example on laser technology for photovoltaics, water-quality analyses through the use of capillary electrophoresis, challenges in the area of carbon nano-tubes and the use of glass for one-way "labs-on-a-chip". Forum participants include BayerMaterialScience, ROFIN/Baasel Lasertech, Festo and CTR.
On "Japan Day" on 22 April corporations like Matsushita, Mitsubishi, Omron and Olympus will report on the latest trends in industrial microsystems and nanotechnology from the Far East. The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) will present its technology development program. And Prof. Dr. Thomas Gessner from the Chemnitz-based Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM) will sketch out his vision of how Japan and Germany can cooperate in the field of system integration.
April 23 will be "Laser Day" at the forum. The "Lasers for Micro-material Processing" special show is being staged by organizations like the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology, the Hannover Laser Center (LZH) and the Limo and Rofin companies. VDI/VDE-IT (Association of German Engineers / Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) is staging its "Clean-Tech Energy" demonstration forum on 25 April, showcasing the latest microsystems developments for renewable forms of energy.
The Innovations for Industry Forum is organized by the IVAM Microtechnology Network and Hannover-based Deutsche Messe. The event is supported by VDI/VDE-IT, the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), NC Gesellschaft e.V., the AMA sensory technology association and the ZVEI German electrical engineering and electronics association.
