The definitive classifieds website in the UAE has undergone a major re-invention bringing Dubai to life online and creating virtual neighbourhoods on screen.
www.Dubizzle.com, where users can buy, sell, find anything, has not just been improved but entirely re-built to bring its users the best of Dubai online.
New features such as reviews and blogs are sure to whet Dubai residents’ appetites for jumping aboard their soap boxes to rant or rave, while an innovative mapping system makes searching far more efficient, while helping to build localised communities throughout the city.
Every restaurant, club or hotel, as well as anything posted for sale – from cars to homes to tickets to furniture – is now specifically located by posters on Google Maps so that users know exactly where to go and how to get there. Visitors to the site are able to search for places to go or things to buy according to their geographic location.
"Dubizzle.com has been helping people new to Dubai and its residents get the most out of the city for the last three years," said Sim Whatley, one of the creators of the website. "This is the next step in creating a truly interactive website, giving the users the power to choose what is relevant to them in order to create a dynamic and living online community.
"We live our lives in service to those who call Dubai home and after nine months intensive re-evaluation of the website and how people use the site, we know that this is the direction our readers want."
Visitors to dubizzle.com are able to have their voices heard and share experiences of bars, restaurants and clubs. Furthermore, users are able to agree or disagree with the reviews so that a truly balanced opinion can be sought.
A feed of the most popular blogs from within the community is positioned on the new website so that readers can achieve a rounded view of issues directly affecting them. The opportunity to comment and expand upon blog entries increases interaction and gives everyone the chance to voice their opinions – as varied and diverse as we have come to expect in a city full of different cultures.
Dubizzle.com has become a staple portal for expatriates in Dubai who want to learn more about the Emirate. The website has grown steadily each month since inception, most recently recording more than 4 million page views in June 2008. With more than 350,000 visits a month, Dubains use the website to buy and sell goods, read about the latest bars and restaurants and check out photos from nights out.
Re-launched on 12 July 2008, dubizzle.com is set to make even more waves in Dubai, building on its reputation as the definitive classifieds site in the region.
Dubizzle.com was set up by entrepreneurs J.C. Butler and Sim Whatley in August 2005. Their vision was to create an online community website for people both new and old to Dubai. It remains the most popular and definitive classifieds website in the UAE. Dubizzle is an arbitrary word that has come to represent the solution to the diverse and changing needs of an expatriate lifestyle.
