Children get interactive in the kitchen as luxury hotel makes dining out a family affair

Pupils from the American International School and the British International School get creative in the kitchens of Noodles at Rosewood Corniche.
The Rosewood Corniche prides itself on being Jeddah’s top venue for dining out, and children from the city’s international schools are having fun discovering some of the hotel’s culinary secrets.
Following two successful family days with pupils and their parents from the American International School and the British International School in Jeddah, management at the luxury hotel are to establish regular children’s events for budding Chinese chefs.
The popular ‘Noodles’ restaurant in the hotel is hosting interactive sessions focusing on ‘La Mian’, the hand pulled noodles that diners have been enjoying since the hotel opened in September 2007. Children watch the chefs in this fine art, and then get the opportunity to try it for themselves – sometimes with messy consequences.
Once the dim sum dishes and noodles have been created, younger diners are kept entertained with chopstick lessons and games on PlayStation 3, while their parents relax, take in the views of the Red Sea, and enjoy the food.
"The children had such a fun-packed day and they were able to get as involved in the preparation of the food as possible," said Nehal Hosni from the American International School. "The feedback we received from parents and the pupils was fantastic. Everyone has been speaking about the hotel in school and as such, the next group of students are eagerly anticipating their turn at hand pulling noodles soon".
Shamel Droubi, Sales and Marketing Director for Rosewood Corniche, said: "We thought this would be a great way to involve children in the dining experience. ‘Noodles’ is designed to welcome the whole family while still giving adults an enjoyable and relaxing lunch or dinner. We’re looking forward to welcoming more children from the American International School and setting up similar events for other schools in the city".
