Valentin Teillet has supplemented the big success of the KTM JM Racing Team with the victory in the EMX2 European Championship race in Finland. The young French is leading the EMX2 Championship for 91 points.
In the first race Valentin Teillet (KTM) did the excellent start and already in the second corner he had some metres of advantage in front of the other riders. The new MX2 Junior World Champion Ceriel Klein Kromhof (KTM) from Netherlands was following him and started to make the pressure on Teillet. He had some problems with the painful wrist and the cramp in the arm, so he could not hold out the attack of the fast Kromhof.
He was crossing the finish line 14 seconds before Teillet. Home Finnish rider Harri Kullas (KTM) was riding very paitently. With the support of the home fans he was third. Loic Larrieu (Kawasaki), who took the Qualifying pole position was fifth. The winner of the first race, Ceriel Klein Kromhof said: »I did the good start. I was following Teillet and I passed him. Then the race was very simple for me, because everybody were far behind and I could ride my own race. I won and I hope I will repeate my riding in the second race.«
And he did it. At the start Kromhof was only tenth. Then he repeated the good riding from the first race. He finished close to the top on the fourth position. Teillet was decided to take all or nothing. With the perfect start and the persevering riding he was on the first position through the whole second race.
Only Loic Larrieu was trying to pass Teillet, with some dangerous attacks. In some parts it looked that Larrieu is stronger, but in the second race Teillet wanted to make better race and he won. Larrieu finished second, Loic Rombaut (Kawasaki), who is the second rider in the EMX2 European Championship Classification was third.
With the victory in the second race, Teillet was the winner of the twelfth Finnish event. In the EMX2 Championship Classification Teillet is leading for incredible 91 points. As there are only three more events, he almost get the European Championship Title.
Loic Larrieu was second. In Championship Classification he is still on the third position. He reduced the arrears to the second rider Loic Rombaut to only two points. The third was Kromhof and the home rider Karri Kullas was fifth.
The next event for the EMX2 European Championship will be the next weekend in Randers, Denmark.
RIDER'S COMMENTS:
1st – VALENTIN TEILLET: »I was a little bit surprised that I did so successful race today. My last experience with the sandy race track was more than a month ago in Markelo. Then I got the wrist injury. I did not make practices on the bike. The race track here in Finland was physically difficult and hard. Before the race my team changed some settings of the bike. For me the new settings were better and with those changes I was riding faster. When I am riding I still feel the pain in my wrist and it makes my conditions more difficult. In the following events I have to compete carefully, even if my advantage is big.«
2nd – CERIEL KLEIN KROMHOF: »For me the first race was better than the second. In the first race I did the good start, I was faster than Teillet and I won. In the second race I crashed in the first lap. Till the end I passed some riders and I finished fourth, what was enough for the podium. Yesterday my fans said that they want the podium and I hope now they are happy for me. Usually I like more softer race tracks as this was. I hope that next weekend in Denmark I will continue my good results.«
3rd – LOIC LARRIEU: »I am happy for the results that I made here in Finland. For me it was not easy, I am not used to compete on the race tracks like this. I have never been here before. The second race was better and I finished on the podium. It was actually my goal before the race. It is important to stay close to the top. I am satisfied with my Kawasaki bike and I think I will continue with it.«
