The summer break being concluded, the Italian Formula 3 championship is about to face the second part of the season that in four weekends within less than two months will crown the 2008 winner.
This weekend, the "Riccardo Paletti" circuit of Varano de´ Melegari, near Parma, will house the fifth round of a competition characterized so far by the battle for the leadership between Mirko Bortolotti (Lucidi Motors, 70 points) and Edoardo Piscopo (Team Ghinzani, 66 points).
Behind the back of Francesco Castellacci (Lucidi Motors, 33 points) the fight between rookies Giovanni Nava (Lucidi Motors, 32 points) and Salvatore Cicatelli (BVM-Target, 29 points) is getting more and more interesting. The more expert driver Nico Vedonck (RP Motorsport) could get involved in this battle too.
After a steep season beginning, Minardi team by Corbetta have great desire for redemption: team refined several technical solutions with the three drivers Marco Zipoli, Michael Dalle Stelle and Niccolò Piancastelli during the tests held at Varano and Misano. According to the team principal Angelo Corbetta´s expectations these solutions should increase the competitiveness of the single seaters.
Europa Corse will line up only a Dallara F308 instead and it will be driven by Francesco Prandi.
