Poulsen Motorsport announced its 2008 programme and future plans

On Friday afternoon Poulsen Motorsport presented its 2008 line-up in the Danish Touringcar Championship. Team owner and former WRC participant Kristian Poulsen will continue in the team, where he will be getting three new team mates this year.

Reigning Danish Touringcar Champion and FIA European Touring Car Cup winner Michel Nykjær, Tappernøje, moves over from the Seat brand to his first season aboard a BMW 320si E90, which will also be raced by 1999 champion Jesper Sylvest, Jægerspris. Poulsen Motorsport’s latest signing is Emmet O’Brien, Ireland, who also raced for the team in last year’s ETCC race at Adria International.

But the Danish team wants to become more international than by just running with a single Irishman onboard.

"This year we will be taking part with four BMW’s in the DTC series as well as the ETCC race, and in three of this year’s WTCC round we will also be taking part with two cars," team owner Kristian Poulsen announced during Friday’s press conference, before telling about the team’s 2009 ambitions. "It is our plan that we will take part in the full WTCC series with three cars."

The drivers pencilled out for Poulsen Motorsport’s 2009 WTCC move are Emmet O’Brien and Michel Nykjær as well as team owner Kristian Poulsen.

"We have chosen to announce our plan for the two coming years, so that our name will be at the top of the list at potential partners nationally as well as internationally," Kristian Poulsen explains. "Plans might go wrong or can be changed in the process, but without plans you are going nowhere."

The full entry of this year’s Danish Touringcar Championship is not yet confirmed, but a field of 28 cars is expected with another FIA WTCC regular, James Thompson, England, also joining the field aboard a Honda Accord Euro-R.
