In der Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben findet am 30. und 31. August der einzige Auftritt der FIA Tourenwagen Weltmeisterschaft 2008 in Deutschland statt. Als Gesamtführender reist SEAT-Pilot Yvan Muller (FRA) in die Magdeburger Börde, aber auch BMW-Werksfahrer Jvrg Müller möchte seinen Aufwärtstrend beim Heimrennen fortsetzen. Motorsportfans, die das Spektakel nicht live an der Strecke verfolgen können, verpassen bei Eurosport und Eurosport 2 keine Rennminute.
Eurosport berichtet direkt aus der Boxengasse und zeigt neben den WM-Läufen auch das Qualifying und das Warm up. Die Highlights des Rennwochenendes werden jeweils dienstags im FIA WTCC Magazin zusammengefasst.
Nach vierwvchiger Sommerpause wird beim Deutschlandrennen in Oschersleben das spannende Duell um die Tourenwagen-Weltmeisterschaft fortgesetzt. SEAT-Pilot Yvan Muller führt das Klassement mit 65 Punkten an, allerdings spürt er bereits die Stossstange von Teamkollege Gabriele Tarquini (ITA) am eigenen Heck, der nur einen Punkt hinter ihm liegt. Titelverteidiger Andy Priaulx (GBR) und Lokalmatador Jörg Müller werden alles daran setzen, beim Heimrennen des BMW-Teams Punkte gut zu machen.
Im Interview mit Motorsport-Total.com, einem der nationalen Medienpartner der FIA WTCC, sagte Müller: "Ich möchte viele Punkte machen!" In Oschersleben feiert zudem der russische Rennstall Golden Motors seinen dritten Auftritt in der FIA WTCC und fordert die etablierten Hersteller BMW, SEAT, Chevrolet und Honda heraus.
Neben heissen Zweikämpfen auf der Rennstrecke kommt es am Rande der FIA WTCC-Rennen in Oschersleben auch zu spannenden Show-downs am Pokertisch: Das fünfte Turnier der Poker Race Trophy, für die sich Online-Spieler bei Gratis-Turnieren auf fun.PokerRoom.com qualifizieren konnten, wird direkt im Fahrerlager ausgetragen.

Augusto Farfus managed to beat Alain Menu to pole position in the qualifying at Brands Hatch, but he had to set a new lap record to do it. With a time of 1:32.794 he shattered the track record for Super 2000 cars by two and a half tenths of a second and claimed his second pole of the season after Pau.
