Huff chases Farfus in Oschersleben practice 2

Augusto Farfus took the top spot once again in the final practice session before qualifying in Oschersleben this morning. His lap was the only one to dip below 1:36 with a time of 1:35.771, a new lap record for the Super 2000 cars.The BMW Team Germany driver took the lead in the session early on, bettering his time on three occasions. He took the lead from Independent driver Jaap van Lagen in the Russian Bears LADA, who had set a provisional fastest time as it took a while for the faster drivers to reach their optimum pace.

Several drivers fought for the second position because no one could touch Farfus for speed. Chevrolet's Robert Huff eventually took the second spot with a time three tenths behind the Brazilian. Tom Coronel popped his SUNRED Engineering SEAT into third position with SEAT Sport driver Rickard Rydell in fourth.

The BMW cars appeared to struggle in this session despite Farfus' speed as Independent driver and newcomer Marin Èolak finished in fifth spot ahead of Chevrolet drivers Nicola Larini and Alain Menu. Jörg Müller and Félix Porteiro took eighth and ninth positions, with Sergio Hernández rounding off the top ten. Jaap van Lagen eventually finished the session in eleventh position.

There were several minor incidents throughout the practice as the drivers struggled to keep their cars on the road for the whole half an hour. Ibrahim Okyay came off twice, the second time at turn 10, which also saw Èolak having a moment. Aytaç Biter, George Tanev, James Thompson, Franz Engstler, Müller, Porteiro and Yvan Muller all made contact with the grass during the practice.

Stefano D'Aste had the most dramatic incident when he spun, throwing a large amount of dust onto the track right at the end of the session.
