Ernüchterndes Wochenende für Olivier Tielemans und Wiechers Sport in Brno

Am vergangenen Wochenende fanden vor rund 40.000 Zuschauern die Läufe 9 & 10 zur FIA World Touring Car Championship in Brno statt.

Bereits am Donnerstag konnten die Piloten der FIA WTCC ihre Runden auf der 5.4 Kilometer langen Rennstrecke im tschechischen Brno drehen. Wiechers Sport Pilot Olivier Tielemans spulte mit 98 Runden die zweit meisten Runden ab, mehr Testrunden drehte nur der amtierende Weltmeister Andy Priaulx mit 99 Runden.

In den ersten beiden Trainingsitzungen am Samstag konnte sich Olivier Tielemans jeweils mit einem guten 13 Platz (P3 bei den Privaten) behaupten. Im Warm Up konnte sich Tielemans sogar auf den 11 Platz (P3 bei den Privaten) verbessern.

Beim Start zum ersten Rennen rutschte Tielemans auf den 24 Platz zurück, konnte sich aber Runde für Runde nach vorne arbeiten und landete am Schluss auf Platz 19 (P4 bei den Privaten). Der Sieg ging an den Ex-Formel 1 Fahrer Alessandro Zanardi vor Felix Porteiro (beide BMW) & Alain Menu (Chevrolet).

Rennen 2 war für den Wiechers Sport Piloten bereits nach einer Runde zu Ende, nach dem er vom tschechischen Gaststarter Michal Matejovsky ins Kiesbett befördert wurde.

Der Sieg ging an Gabriele Tarquini (Seat) vor Alessandro Zanardi und August Farfus jr. (beide BMW).
