GT4 Qualifying session
The starting grids are now decided for the last three GT4 races of this season. The rain during the first session really helped the Sports Light championship with Christopher Haase, driving the nr 101 Reiter Engineering KTM Xbow, setting overall pole for the long race and the second sprint race with his time of 1:45.133.
A first for a Sports Light car. The two Donkervoorts were on form as well, with Denis Donkervoort (103) and Stephane Wintenberger (102) setting the 2nd and 3rd best times overall respectively.
In GT4, Jürgen Van Hover in the nr3 SpeedLover Aston Martin N24 was fastest, with a time of 1:48.811. Alex Buncombe, in the nr14 RJN Motorsport Nissan 350Z, was second fastest, with a lap of 1:48.926. Fellow Brit Michael Mallock, in the nr 32 RS Williams Aston Martin has the third best time of 1:48.935.
With the track drying in between the sessions, the grid for the first sprint race looks more regular than the other two, with Mallock setting the best time of that session: 1:42.617. Championship leader, Eric De Doncker in the nr1 Mortorsport98 Mustang FR500C was second fastest, only 0.265 behind Mallock. Another first this weekend is Raed Charawi, setting his best qualifying position this season with the third best time of the second qualifying: 1:42.928.
The Sports Light cars were right behind them; Denis Donkervoort, in the nr103 Donkervoort D8GT, set the fastest lap this session, with a time of 1:44.911. Dennis Retera, in the nr101 Reiter Engineering KTM Xbow set a lap of 1:45.789, giving him second place.
Wintenberger, in the nr 102 Donkervoort D8GT, set the third fastest lap of 1:45.797.
Overall, this looks to be an interesting last weekend for the 2008 GT4 European Cup.
