With two 1-2 finishes today in Monza, SEAT Sport drivers have claimed a serious stake on both the World Titles. The retirements of Chevrolet's Robert Huff and BMW's Andy Priaulx, the only two serious competitors left, the Drivers' Championship fight looks restricted to Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini, who shared victory in Monza.

The Stewards of the meeting stripped Rickard Rydell of the third place he had obtained in today"s the first race. The Swedish driver was given a 30 second time penalty because he cut the first chicane on the last lap after colliding with Nicola Larini"s Chevrolet. Rydell slipped down from third to seventeenth.

Chevrolet retain drivers for 2009

The Chevrolet team will retain the same line up for the next season. They have re-signed the same three drivers - Robert Huff, Nicola Larini and Alain Menu - who have been with the team since the beginning of the World Touring Car programme.
Altogether they have collected 12 victories, 24 podium results and 7 pole positions in the championship so far for Chevrolet.

SEAT Sport driver Gabriele Tarquini was taken to the Imola hospital after the heavy crash he was involved in at the start of today's second race.
After the first checks and X-rays were performed at the circuit medical centre, he was sent to the hospital for more accurate examinations including a Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT Scan) to his neck that was negative.
