M-Sport's Barry Clark to Fire up Fans in Focus at Chatsworth

Recently-crowned Fiesta SportingTrophy International champion Barry Clark has been chosen to drive a BP-Ford Focus World Rally Car at The Rally Show at Chatsworth during 29-30 September.

Clark (25) was handed the drive as a reward for his phenomenal dominance in the FSTi series – where he won all five rounds in the 2007 championship in a Stobart-backed Fiesta ST alongside co-driver Scott Martin. He will now put the 2006 spec BP-Ford Focus WRC car through its paces in front of thousands of spectators during the inaugural running of this event.

Clark’s appearance in the Focus at Chatsworth will be the latest highlight in an exciting year for the Scot. His outstanding displays in the ultra-competitive FSTi one-make championship - which includes drivers of eight different nationalities - have demonstrated his ability to drive the 2 litre GpN Ford Fiesta STs to their full potential.

However, after his last victorious rally in Germany he also has a number of high-profile events still to come in 2007, including the sixth round of the FSTi at Rally Catalunya. Following The Rally Show, Clark will head off to Spain where he will be chasing a sixth consecutive win in the M-Sport-backed series.

2007 Fiesta SportingTrophy Champion Barry Clark said:

"I’m extremely proud and excited to have been asked by M-Sport to step in and drive the Ford Focus at Chatsworth. I think the fact that I have dominated and won the FST International series this year has proved I’m capable of doing a sensible job for the team, and it’s great that M-Sport have demonstrated this confidence in me.

I’m slightly nervous as there will quite a large number of people present, but, as always, I’m up for a challenge and ready to give it my best shot."

M-Sport Managing Director Malcolm Wilson said:

"This is a great opportunity for Barry to get experience in a current world rally car. He has achieved a lot this year in the Fiesta Sporting Trophy. As well as dominating the series he has shown what the car is capable of on tough WRC events and has had some amazing overall results, beating more high-powered machinery along the way.

We want to help the series winners by providing them with a more complete prize package. Barry has shown increased commitment this season and has pushed himself on to win the series and this drive is part of a small reward for his performances."
