Motors TV increasing live Motocross World Championship coverage in 2009

27.09.2008: Motors TV increasing live Motocross World Championship coverage in 2009

With the Red Bull Motocross of Nations going on at Donington and representing the final event of a fantastic season of Motocross racing series promoter Youthstream and TV broadcaster Motors TV are pleased to guarantee the millions of fans all over the world an improved distribution of the FIM Motocross World Championships from 2009.

After broadcasting live the MX2 races and delayed MX1 this year Motors TV will go a step forward in 2009 by broadcasting live the MX2 class again, the MX1 class, the Red Bull Motocross of Nations and the Women’s World Championship second moto’s.

The MX3/EMX2 highlights of the 2009 season will be also broadcast on Motors TV with a 26mn highlights program keeping the fans posted across the MX3 championship’s 16 rounds and the same will go for the SuperMoto World Championship 52 minute highlights program.

These improvements will give a further burst to the growth of both the Motocross and SuperMoto World Championships by adding valuable television broadcasting hours resulting in a global worldwide exposure of the sport and of the partners involved.

Youthstream President Giuseppe Luongo said: "This is another important step for the FIM Motocross World Championships, our goal is to find the best broadcaster who believes in our sport in every region of Europe/World. MOTORS TV has made a wonderful job over this year with broadcasting live the MX2 class and delayed of the MX1 class, their commentary has been outstanding made by experts full of passion and who know Motocross very well.

For this reason we really believe MOTORS TV is the right partner for us to broadcast all our Championships and we are delighted that MOTORS TV will be broadcasting the MX1, MX2 and Women live from next year, plus the MX3/EMX2 and the SuperMoto World Championship highlights."

Motors TV’s Head of Programming & Acquisitions Frédéric Viger stated: "While we knew MX would prove successful on our channel, we’ve been impressed all year long by the loyalty of the motocross fans. Their only complaints were that they had to switch channels to go from Live MX2 to Live MX1, which we also felt frustrated about.

It was therefore an easy decision to go a step further and to enter a new agreement to show the full meetings LIVE. In addition to MX1 & MX2, we also believe that the Women’s World Championship will be a big hit, as, just like Youthstream, we are firmly supporting this new class."

The 2009 FIM Motocross World Championship MX1/MX2 is currently due to start on April 6 at Valkenswaard, The Netherlands, where MX1 World Champion David Philippaerts and MX2 World Champion Tyla Rattray will start their Title defense.

The Women’s World Championship will kick off on April 26 at Agueda, Portugal. Livia Lancelot will be the defending Champion.

The MX3 series will start in Spain at Talavera de la Reina with World Champion Sven Breugelmans heading the pack into the 2009 season.

The FIM SuperMoto World Championship S1/S2 is due to begin on April 12 at Torino, Italy.

Information, photos and results are online at http://www.motocrossMX1.com,  the official website of the FIM Motocross World Championships.

Youthstream is the company that manages the exclusive television, marketing and promotional world wide rights of the FIM Motocross World Championship, the FIM Motocross of Nations, the FIM Women's Motocross World Championship, the FIM Veteran's Motocross World Cup, the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, the FIM SuperMoto World Championship, the FIM SuperMoto of Nations, the FIM Snowcross World Championship, the UEM Motocross European Championship, the UEM Motocross of European Nations and the UEM SuperMoto European Championship.
