After the two weeks of the break riders will continue with the FIM MX3 World Championship. In Markelo, Netherlands it will be the ninth event of the season.
Markelo has a rich history of the motocross. Motorclub Ons Genoegen has been organized 24 World Championships and this year there will be a special, 25th event. On the race track in Markelo there were competing many motocross legends: Stefan in Harry Everts, Dave Bickers, Dave Thorpe, Heiki Mikkola, Greg Albertijn, Eric Geboers, George Jobe, Dave Strijbos, Brad lackey, Daniël Willemsen, Bachthold Fuss, Criste Sergis and others.
This weekend there will compete the best riders in the FIM MX3 World Championship, including Italian Cristian Beggi (Honda Martin Racing) and Belgian Sven Breugelmans (JM KTM Racing). Already some last races Breugelmans was trying to catch the leader Beggi.
As he is in the very good form, this is not an easy task for Breugelmans. Last weekends both of the leading riders were competing at the home Championships in Italy and Belgium. They are good prepared, so in Markelo we will see strained battles between them. Breugelmans is very satisfied with his bike, he just hopes for a good and successful racing. The conditions on the race track will be similar to the Belgian, what could be his little advantage.
Beside the battle for the Championship title, there is attractive also the battle for the third position. It is interesting specially in the matter of fact, that there are two riders from the same team fencing for the better positon. French riders Christophe Martin and Thomas Allier (Husqvarna Sima) are close to each other almost at the every race. One of the biggest success for the team was at the last event in Bulgaria, when they were both on the podium.
Spanish rider Alvaro Lozano (JM KTM Racing), who was one of the best riders at the beginning of the season, will return after a bad injury that he got almost two month ago. All the riders have only two more races to catch one of the places in the top fifteen, what means a ticket for the MX3 event in Chile.
