First victory for Sven Breugelmans

It was a wonderful event for FIM MX3 World Championship in France this weekend. The winner of the fourth event was Belgian Sven Breugelmans (KTM), who spoiled the pleasure of more than 13.000 French fans, while home rider Thomas Allier (Husqvarna) was leading after the first race. The weather was very hot and sunny all the weekend. Riders were competing in hard conditions. The race track was hard with many of sharp stones.

In the first race Sven Breugelmans took the leadership. It was only for some laps, till Thomas Allier came infront and started to dictate faster tempo. French Cyrille Coulon surprised Breugelmans, who was on the second position and overtook him. Riders on first three positions did not change till the end of the first race. Allier won, Coulon was second and Breugelmans finished third. Italian Cristian Beggi (Honda) was fourth, while he was only eight on the start.

The second race was more exciting. It looked like we will see double KTM success. Breugelmans and Spanish rider Alvaro Lozano were in the leadership. Than Lozano crashed and many riders overtook him. Allier came on the second position, but he crashed last two laps before the end and finished seventh. Coulon was second again. The second race was better for Championship leader Beggi. He finished third and missed the podium only for a point. Also home rider Christophe Martin (Husqvarna) did better second race. He finished fourth.

Sven Breugelmans became the winner and it was his first victory this season. Cyrille Coulon was second and Thomas Allier finished third. Another Husqvarna rider Christophe Martin completed French success with the fifth position.

RIDER'S COMMENTS:

SVEN BREUGELMANS: »I am very happy for my first victory this season. I think I have one of the best bikes in the Championship and also one of the best teams. Our team manager Jacky Martens was helping me a lot with his advices. He gave me also big support during the race. I did my best to improve result from Italy. I came closer to the Championship leader Cristian Beggi and all I can say is that I did really a good job today.«

CYRILLE COULON: »It is my first podium in MX3 World Championship and of course I am very happy for today's result. I leave close to this area and I know this race track good. Today conditions were not so good for me because I do not like hard race tracks so much, but anyway I did very good result infront of our great public.«

THOMAS ALLIER: »I am satisfied for this result and second podium in the season. Second race was very difficult. I crashed and I almost losed the podium. At the end luckily it was everything good for me. This public was amazing. It was nice to compete infront of 13000 home spectators.«
