Snowcross World Championship continues in Tuuri
The FIM Snowcross World Championship collective is now heading to Tuuri, Finland, after last weekend’s season opener at Oppdal, Norway.
After two time World Champion Peter Ericson stepped out of round one due to a flu, Swedish countryman and Lynx fellow rider Emil Ohman took the overall and the Championship lead, placing himself ahead of Finn Niko Korsumaeki, also on a Lynx machine.
With the two collecting one win and one second place each at the end of the two heat round, Korsumaeki lost to Ohman only by finishing second in the final heat but the winner of the last round of 2007 will be on fire this Saturday, aiming at the overall victory in front of his home crowd.
Ericson is also supposed to make his comeback this weekend and join the stiff competition, where he will surely find Arctic Cat mounted Viktor Stenman, third overall in Oppdal, Tom Johansson and Hannu Toppala, respectively fourth and fifth in the Championship.
The circuit’s length is 730 metres and the minimum width is 10 metres, allowing impressive overtaking manoeuvres.
On Saturday, March 8, the first moto is scheduled for 14.00 while the final moto will be at 15.00
The meeting is open to the snowmobiles entering the Pro-Racer class, including both 2 stroke machines (up to 600 cc maximum) and 4 stroke machines (up to 1050 cc maximum).
Tuuri is in the South-West of Finland, 150 km North of Tampere.
