Women's World Championship wide open

- Leader Prumm out with broken collarbone

Round four of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship is set to take place this weekend at Teutschenthal, where the last edition of the Women’s World Cup started in 2007.

Kiwi Katherine Prumm leads the points standings but she will not be able to race in Teutschenthal due to a broken left collarbone. Runner up Livia Lancelot will try to take back the red plate.

Despite riding with an injured right knee, Yamaha Van Beers’ Katherine Prumm worked her way up through the field to snatch the red plate from Livia Lancelot at round three in France two weeks ago. The two time World Cup winner was looking forward to Germany to display the leader’s board but a training accident in Belgium saw the Kiwi break her left collarbone.

With the Kiwi out, GPKR’s Livia Lancelot aims at taking back the red plate which she lost in France; though the first five riders in the Championship are spread in only 22 points and it will be a hard fought season finale from Germany to the final round in Lierop.

Third placed in the Championship Ashley Fiolek sees Kawasaki Elf Pfeil’s German Maria Franke follow from fourth while the winner of the latest four heats, KTM Germany’s Steffi Laier, stormed up to fifth after her second consecutive overall win in France.

Both Franke and Laier are from Germany and will look forward to mount on the home podium to be probably taken by Suzuki Inotec’s Larissa Papenmeier as well.

The latter is sixth in the Championship as she missed one heat due to a foot injury; Papenmeier rode strong and won at Teutschenthal in 2007, the year of her breakthrough.

Elin Mann, Elien de Winter, Marianne Veenstra and Nicky van Wordragen round off the top ten.

TALKESSEL AND TEUTSCHENTHAL

The Talkessel race track in Teutschenthal is one of the most important courses in the country; this hard pack circuit underwent a few changes last year, with the ground becoming slightly softer as sand was added to the hard base. The twisty layout features many undulations which make it very spectacular from a racing point of view. Last year some showers affected the whole Sunday.

Teutschenthal is a small town located in the heart of Germany, actually in the State of Saxony-Anhalt which hosts part of the river Elbe’s course, the low mountains of Harz and the fertile Magdeburger plain. Germany’s capital Berlin is only 200 kilometres South as the closest main city is Leipzig, less than an hour drive away.
