Atlantic Racing Team of Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada will once again spread its wings, announcing the participation in the Formula BMW Pacific Series with Gabby Chaves of Bogota, Colombia.
Gabby, as one of the youngest drivers in the FBMW Pacific series, participated until recently in the Skip Barber Racing School Regional Series. He has been known there as a strong front runner.
"When we had the opportunity to test Gabby in our FB2 car here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, we instantaneously recognized that there is a young driver, unlike so many we had tested before, with total insight of the car, track and team work! Not only was he fast, right from the get go but also consistent, fully focused and. really likable!" says Ingo Strackerjan, team manager and proceeds to explain "All this will help him and us to go to the Pacific series and be strong contenders."
"I think we are all very excited to go to Asia, to participate in all 3 Asian Formula One races, including the first night street race in F1 history! The Pacific series will be one of the most contented FBMW series this year, considering more European teams and drivers from all over the world are now participating there. Gabby cannot wait and compete with these more experienced drivers and continue his learning process".
Letters of recommendations for Gabby from the racing industry's leading personalities, Series Organizers, Coaches and other Teams give proof that Gabby has shown his discipline and abilities. A big plus in all this is also Gabby's manager, no other than Mr. Felipe Santos - he is not only great to work with but also knows the industry very well and has the vast knowledge and experience needed to acquire sponsors and secure funding for Gabby's junior racing future.
The Formula BMW Pacific Series kicks off at the Sepang International Race Track, near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 16th with a test day and 4 days of practice, qualifying and two races over the weekend as part of the second 2008 Formula One racing series.
About the Formula BMW Series:
Most of the young guns that have outgrown karting have the same ultimate goal: to make it to Formula One. In recent years, Formula BMW has proved to be the perfect stepping stone on the way to the pinnacle of motor racing. Formula BMW is the world's leading entry-level class in Formula racing.
In 2008 the German and the British Championship will merge into new Formula BMW Europe, which will be staged in the support program of Formula One. Formula BMW USA will become Formula BMW Americas, Formula BMW Asia will be renamed Formula BMW Pacific.
Apart from the championship, there is a separate class for newcomers in open-wheel racing, the Rookie Cup. Up-and-coming drivers as young as 15-years-old are given the opportunity of entering motor racing with the high-tech, FB02 race car.
