Mike Meadows, a Banbury based young racing driver is preparing for a tough battle in the next two rounds of the Formula BMW championship which take place this weekend at Snetterton in Norfolk.

The 18-year-old driver has been one of the leading competitors in the championship this season with 11 top10 finishes from 14 races, which includes six visits to the podium. This strength of performance places Meadows as one of the drivers to watch and he is determined to race for more podiums at Snetterton.

He says, "We’ve dropped a little form in the last couple of race weekends and need to get back to our podium winning pace that we’ve often enjoyed this year. I know we can do it and I’ll be putting everything into getting good results and scoring those valuable championship points. The competition is very tough in Formula BMW and one not so good weekend drops you down the standings and makes it tough to get back up. But we’ve got the team to bounce back to the top and I’ll be aiming for the top step of the podium as always."

Snetterton hosts rounds 15 and 16 of the Championship and with the title chase being fought hard, the drivers are preparing for the Norfolk circuit to be the battle ground for two highly competitive races. Meadows lies fourth in the Championship, but has the chance to improve on his standing with the right results.

The track lies on the site of a former airfield, carrying many of its characteristics into the layout. Meadow says of driving the track, "To get a fast lap at Snetterton it’s really important to carry your speed on to the straights and slipstreaming can help as well. Overtaking is often happening on the Revett straight, because it’s fairly long, which allows the car behind to get a tow and then slipstream past the driver ahead. Late braking into Esses is often the result of this, but if you can get through smoothly it’s better. You need commitment for the Bomb Hole and going into Coram, but if you’ve got the car and the confidence, it’ll help the lap time. "

Meadows is contesting the Championship class of Formula BMW. He began his racing career in karting, graduating to the Formula BMW scholarship class in 2005, in which he was Rookie Cup runner up by the end of the season.
