FORMEL BMW WELTFINALE
Riesenjubel am Sonntagnachmittag (25. November) beim ASL-Team Mücke Motorsport aus Berlin-Altglienicke: Der Rennstall aus der deutschen Hauptstadt feierte beim dritten Formel BMW Weltfinale im spanischen Valencia einen Doppel-Erfolg.
Der Österreicher Philipp Eng, Gesamtdritter der Formel BMW Deutschland, fuhr von der Pole-Position einen sicheren Start-Ziel-Sieg ein. Sein tschechischer Teamkollege Josef Kral, Vizemeister der britischen Meisterschaft, verbesserte sich von Startplatz drei noch auf den zweiten Rang und machte damit den größten Erfolg für Mücke Motorsport in dessen Jubiläumssaison (10. Saison im Formel-Rennsport) perfekt.
„Mehr geht nicht", freute sich Teamchef Peter Mücke. „Die Fahrer, Ingenieure, Mechaniker und alle Helfer unseres Teams haben das gesamte Wochenende einen tollen Job gemacht und so zu diesem riesigen Erfolg beigetragen. Am Ende hatten alle Freudentränen in den Augen", sagte Peter Mücke, dem seine Mannschaft damit nachträglich ein schönes Geschenk zum 61. Geburtstag (21. November) gemacht hat.
„Eine tadellose Leistung über das gesamte Wochenende, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass wir von Freitag bis Sonntag unter den 35 weltbesten Nachwuchsfahrern aus 19 Nationen vom Qualifying über den Super-Pole-Wettbewerb und die Heats bis hin zum Rennen durchgehend dominiert haben.
Diesen Erfolg zum Saisonabschluss haben wir uns verdient." Bei der Premiere des Formel BMW Weltfinales 2005 in Bahrain hatte das ASL-Team Mücke Motorsport bereits einen Erfolg verbucht. Dort war der Schweizer Sébastien Buemi (2007 mit dem Berliner Rennstall Vize-Champion in der Formel-3-Euroserie) Zweiter geworden.
Eng hatte sich am Vormittag die Pole-Position mit einem weiteren Sieg im fünften Zwischenlauf (zuvor ein Sieg und einmal Zweiter sowie Bester in Qualifying und Super-Pole-Wettbewerb) erkämpft und auch im Rennen nichts mehr anbrennen lassen. Als Belohnung bekommt der Österreicher einen Test im Formel-1-Boliden von BMW Sauber.
Josef Kral, der am Vormittag zum dritten Mal Zweiter in einem Heat geworden war, konnte sich in dem Rennen auf der 3,1 km langen Piste von Valencia noch an dem von Platz zwei gestarteten Daniel Morad (Sieger der Formula BMW USA) vorbeischieben. Der Kanadier hatte sich in der siebten Runde einen Ausrutscher neben die Piste geleistet.
Dritter wurde so noch der Deutsche Marco Wittmann. Pedro Bianchini (Brasilien), der dritte Mücke-Pilot, war von Startposition 13 ins Rennen gegangen. Er schied nach einem Crash Mitte des Rennens aus.
