Two weeks ago you could really feel his disappointment: Some days travelled the 17-years old Colombian Carlos Gaitan from his home-base Bogota to Mallorca for racing the first Race-Weekend of the Formula Cup Mallorca. At this time the ex-Formula Renault driver couldn’t even finish his races. Luck for him that the racing-direction decided not to give points for the first Race-Weekend in sporting senses.
Carlos really knocked back at the Saturday-race of the second Race-Weekend. He saves the Pole before Latvian favourite Otto Birznieks with a gap of 0.1 seconds. With it the first extra-point also goes to Carlos Gaitan. In the second row were Lucian Toth from Rumania and Joe Schmitz from Luxembourg.
Terrible started the Qualifying for Spanish double-winner of Race-Weekend 1 Pedro Mas Manseras. He had problems with the new and difficult track-version and started only as Fifths. He chairs this row with young Florian Schwarzenbilder.
With a fast start Lucian Toth took over the lead after the first corners. Pole-man Carlos Gaitan follows him as second, after them Otto Birznieks and Pedro Mas Manseras. The leading three went away in style and drove constantly lap-times in one second. Multiple times the leading-position changed in the first laps until Carlos Gaitan took back his lead before Otto and Lucian.
After already Florian Schwarzenbilder falls out in the first lap, also Pedro Mas Manseras falls out at race-middle. To rescue his car the race-direction sent out the safety-car. Joe Schmitz at Position 4 and Jackie Weiss at Position 5 closed the way to the Top-3.

Racing in the VIP-Car, automobilsport.com journalist and photographer Wolfgang Linder follows them already as Sixth now.
The restart 4 laps before the finish: Carlos Gaitan enforced by a tactical exercise from Otto and Lucian. Under pressure from Rumanian Lucian Toth, 16-years old Otto spooned and said goodbye to his second place. Carlos won the race ahead of Lucian Toth and Joe Schmitz.
Otto Birznieks finished Fourth, Jackie Weiss finished Fifths. Nor the first Race-Weekend Jackie was choose as "Driver of the Weekend" and wants to celebrate her 16 birthday she had this week, with a victory normaly: "I am very ill this weekend. But this is not the reason why the result is worse. The new track-version is just so tough and I am still loosing much time in the important chicane."

Bonus for Carlos: After his Extra-point for the Pole-Position (+1) Carlos Gaitan also took the first 10 winner-points for the championship. The grid for Race 2 results after the second best time of every driver in the Qualifying. By saving this time also, Carlos took one Bonus-point for this pole (+1) - so he will also start from Pole-Position at Race 2.
Carlos best lap of Race 1 makes glad in two ways: Beside the Bonus-point for the fastest lap (+1) he will also stand on Pole for Race 3 which will be start Sunday-afternoon (+1).
Carlos Gaitan wants to show the many viewers that he could also use his Pole-Positions on Sunday. He is leading the championship with the maximum points now (14 points), followed by Lucian Toth (8 points) and Joe Schmitz (6 points.)
