Formula Cup Mallorca Review

Formula Cup Mallorca 2007 is over. The series is professional and established itself. Especially the series is cost-effective and attractive for young drivers. The series is so good, that the GU-Racing Team International - organizer and and inset-team of the Formula-Junior – decided to create a sister-series which runs in the summer.
Project-Manager Günther Unterreitmeier: „This was not planned but we got so much questions from drivers and finally we want to support the Youngstar further more after the Formula Cup Mallorca." From Formula Cup Mallorca to FORMULA EUROPE this is not a utopia. It is just because of FORMULA EUROPE will hold the races in 5 countries in Europe.
Beside championship-second Otto Birznieks and Joe Schmitz from Luxembourg will race in FORMULA EUROPE, one guy is still good for higher things: champion Carlos Gaitan from Colombia will race in Formula BMW for GU-Racing. It will be also exiting to see the development of the young drivers. Florian Schwarzenbilder and Max Mayer are just 15 years old since some weeks, so the doors are open for them.
Both will race in FORMULA EUROPE now and they want to reach Formula BMW, too. So the education and the support program for the young drivers still works. And the most important thing: At hard work and the biggest professionalism. All drivers and the organizer had cool races and the biggest fun together.

Carlos Edoardo Gaitan Quinenos from Colombia – or like the GU-Racing mechanics call him "Captain Choas". This nickname is not only simpler. It is also true for the 17 years old. Carlos is champion of Formula Cup Mallorca 2007 und he convinced Günther Unterreitmeier with his performances. So the team-manger of GU-Racing gave him the chance: Carlos will step-up directly to Formula BMW, he will race for GU-Racing International.
"This is the biggest and the most beautiful success for me. I did not believe in this when I came to Europe", said Carlos, who was already second of the Mexican Formula-Renault. Under hard concurrent the title was earned by Carlos. He reached 6 victories in 10 races. Carlos wants to race in Europe to learn better. One thing is sure: The cool looking guy knows what he wants. Normally he likes family-atmosphere. Because of it he lives at his GU-Racing Team now in Munich and he also chairs his flat with mechanic Marco.
Not worse is also the future for championship-second Otto Birznieks. The Latvian is favourite for FORMULA EUROPA now, he is supported by Mercedes-Formula 3 Junior Harald Schlegelmilch and Otto has god the most of the female fans. OK – a little bit more luck would be good for Otto, but he was fast every time. The Sunnyboy with the long hairs want to enter in Formula BMW in 2008. "I think FORMULA EUROPA is the best solution absolutely to prepare for this. So and here I could win, this is not possible in Formula BMW yet.", said Otto who lives in Riga and who saves one title of the Formula Cup Mallorca anyhow: Rookie-Champion!
