Local hero Pedro Mas Mansera (ESP) wins first race of Formula Cup Mallorca
From the beginning of the race it was a tough fight for the victory. 16-years old Otto Birznieks from Latvia took the Pole in style with an advance of nearly one second. He shares the first row with Pedro Mas Manseras. The second row builds Rumanian Lucian Toth with Jackie Weiss. It was first the warm-up lap when Otto Birznieks had to say good-bye to his Pole in style after a broken gearbox of his Formula Junior. Coming from the first row Pedro Mas Manseras took over the leading position. Just behind him Lucian Toth and Jackie Weiss followed the leader. Pedro Mas Manseras and Lucian Toth reached an advance, behind it Jackie Weiss was fighting in a group with Joe Schmitz from Luxembourg and the just 14-years old Florian Schwarzenbilder. It was the third lap when the second runner Lucian Toth spoon with his car. He joined the fighting group behind Jackie as third. The advance from Pedro Mas Manseras looked save at the middle of the race. But Jackie Weiss raced the fast laps constantly and closed the difference to Pedro. After a lot of pressure from Jackie in the last laps, Pedro Mas Manseras stayed cool and he won the race with a gap of just 0.1 seconds. "I wanted to win this race absolutely. But when I remember some days ago I couldn’t really dream about a win in this style." said Pedro who was celebrated by his family and a lot of friends en masse. Luxembourg Joe Schmitz benefited behind Pedro and Jackie after a second spoon of Lucian Toth. The Rumanian Lucian finished fourth, the young talented Florian Schwarzenbilder saw the finish-flag as fifth. Joe Schmitz (LUX) # Place 3: „My third place is better than I thought from my first formula race generally. I came here to Mallorca without testing before. So I jumped into the deep end today, for this condition I still should be happy."

Lokalmotodor Pedro Mas Mansera (ESP) gewinnt erstes Rennen des Formel Cup Mallorca. Der erste Sieg des neuen Formel Cup Mallorca geht nach Spanien, er bliebt sogar auf der Insel: Pedro Mas Mansera heißt der Sieger. Der auf Mallorca lebende Pedro gewann das erste Rennen am Samstag nachdem er sich am Mittag die zweite Startposition gesichert hatte. Von Beginn an war es ein spannender Kampf um den Sieg. Der 16-jährige Lette Otto Birznieks hatte sich am Mittag mit fast einer Sekunde Vorsprung souverän die Pole-Position für Lauf 1 gesichert. Die erste Starreihe teilte er sich mit Pedro Mas Manseras. In der zweiten Startreihe standen Lucian Toth aus Rumänien und die Jackie Weiss. Von seiner souveränen Pole musste sich Otto Birznieks bereits in der Aufwärmrunde mit einem Getriebeschaden verabschieden und konnte nicht starten. Aus der ersten Startreihe gewann Pedro Mas Manseras den Start. Knapp hinter ihm reihten sich Lucian Toth und Jackie Weiss ein. Pedro Mas Manseras und Lucian Toth konnten sich zunächst absetzen, dahinten fuhren Jackie Weiss, der Luxemburger Joe Schmitz und der erst 14-jährige Florian Schwarzenbilder in einer Gruppe. In der dritten Runde drehte sich Lucian Toth auf dem zweiten Platz liegend und musste sich in der Kampfgruppe hinter Jackie Weiss wieder einreihen. Gegen Rennmitte begann der sicher scheinende Vorsprung von Perdo Mas Manseras zu schrumpfen: Jackie Weiss fuhr konstant die schnellsten Runden und schloss zum Führenden auf. Unter enormen Druck blieb der Spanier Pedro cool. Er ließ Jackie keine Chance zum Überholen und rettete schließlich 0,1 Sekunden ins Ziel. „Ich wollte dieses Rennen in den letzten Runden unbedingt gewinnen, obwohl ich noch vor ein paar Tagen gar nicht damit gerechnet hätte.", sagte der von seiner Familie und vielen Freunden bejubelte Pedro Mas Manseras. Hinter ihm und Jackie profitierte schließlich der Luxemburger Joe Schmitz von einem erneuten aber sehr spektakulären Dreher von Lucian Toth aus Rumänien. Lucian wurde schließlich Vierter, der junge Florian Schwarzenbilder sah als Fünfter die Zielflagge.
Joe Schmitz (LUX) # Platz 3: „Mein Ergebnis ist besser als ich mir von meinem ersten Formelrennen überhaupt erwartet hatte. Ohne überhaupt getestet zu haben kam ich hier nach Mallorca. Dafür, dass ich so ins kalte Wasser gesprungen bin, bin ich absolut glücklich und zufrieden."

The first victory of the new Formula Cup Mallorca goes to Spain. The victory actually stays at Mallorca: Pedro Mas Mansera is the winner. Pedro who lives in Mallorca wins the first race on Saturday after he saves the second start position in the Qualifying at the morning.
