As Formula Master moves into the second half of its 2008 season with rounds eight and nine at Brands Hatch, England, JD Motorsport and driver Chris van der Drift are leading in all but one of this year's classifications.

The team is currently 25 points ahead of Trident Racing in the Teams Classification whilst Chris van der Drift leads the Drivers Classification by ten points with Michael Ammermüller in second place, followed by two other rookies: Harald Schlegelmilch and Fabio Leimer.

Van der Drift also leads the Best Team-mates Classification along with Sergey Afanasiev, but it is Iris Project's Ammermüller that holds the lead in the Rookies Classification. The German is 11.5 points ahead of Trident Racing's Schlegelmilch.

With another eight races to go however, none of the leaders are safe. To date, six different drivers have won races, four of those have been rookies, and next week's two rounds at Brands Hatch could change everything.

The Kent circuit is favoured by drivers as a notoriously hard track to drive, combining unforgiving blind corners with extreme slopes and climbs thanks to the hilly terrain.

"Brands Hatch is a great track," said British driver Michael Meadows who qualified fourth on his first Formula Master outing last year. "There is a whole section which is solely about having confidence in your car and in yourself. It's almost like a street track; the surroundings are very close with little run-off area.

"There is a corner at the end of the back straight which you take flat out in sixth gear. The track is narrow so the trees are really close. Although you don't think about it as you drive it, you are left with an extreme sense of speed which is exhilarating!"

Eurosport's coverage for Formula Master's race weekend in England, will begin Saturday 26 July with race one shown live at 12:45 (CET) on Eurosport International and Asia Pacific. Sunday's race two will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2 and Asia Pacific at 15:15 (CET).
