Trident Racing Pau Race1 review

In a race heavily conditioned by the damp track, Trident Racing completed the first race of the weekend at Pau with a double points finish. Alejandro Núñez and Kasper Andersen cruised respectively to 5th and 7th place, while Harald Schlegelmilch experienced an unlucky break and was forced to retire due to an electrical problem while running behind the pack that eventually ended up on the podium.

The race took off behind the Safety-Car, with a progressively drying racetrack. The three drivers of Trident Racing didn`t commit mistakes, proving to have the right consistency to shine again on Race 2. Kasper Andersen will start on front row tomorrow, thanks to the reversed top-8 positions, while Núñez will start in 4th place. The event will be broadcasted live on Eurosport 2, starting at 14:00 (GMT+1), and on www.eurosport.com and www.formulamaster.net.

Alejandro Núñez (#33) 5th

Kasper Andersen (#32) 7th

Harald Schlegelmilch (#31) DNF

Alejandro Núñez

"It was a really tough race. The first laps were quite tricky after starting behind the Safety-Car, with cold tires and almost no grip on the racetrack. I`m glad to have avoided costly mistakes: I had to be extremely focused and committed for the 100% of the time.

Our 5th place is rewarding, because it came when many other drivers made mistakes. To complete the weekend in the best possible way, a podium finish would be ideal. I think it won`t be impossible, starting from row 2".

Kasper Andersen

"Our goal was clear since the beginning: avoid any risk and subsequent errors, getting to the end into the points zone. We complied with our plans, and I`m happy to have kept my nose clean in a difficult race, that even had an extremely bad start.

Both at the briefing and before the start, race control announced a two-lap Safety-Car period, but indeed it headed back to the pits after just one lap and I got caught unprepared. I was able to recover many positions, and thanks to my seventh-place finish, I`ll start from the first place tomorrow. I hope to find a dry racetrack, and to make a good start".

Harald Schlegelmilch

"It wasn`t a lucky day, definitely. I was running in fourth, with a very fast pace, when the engine suddenly got out, and I was forced to park my car on the side of the racetrack. It feels bad because, looking at laptimes, I could have made it to the podium.

I lost a bit of time behind Alejandro at the beginning, and only when I got through him I started to use the full potential of my car, staying among the fastest drivers on-track. I`ll be starting from the rear tomorrow, so I`ll have only a few chances to take some points".
