Russia’s Sergey Afanasiev took top honours again today in Formula Master’s second official test day at Vallelunga, Italy. The 19-year-old improved on yesterday’s time and posted a fastest lap of 1:28.462, ahead of Pablo Sanchez Lopez (Cram Competition) and Fabio Onidi (Promotorsport).
"I had quite a lot of traffic during the morning session," said J.D. Motorsport’s Afanasiev. "This afternoon was perfect though. The first time I drove the car, a few weeks ago, I had a lot to learn but this test is more about finding the small steps and learning the track.
"It’s a very nice experience for me to drive the Formula Master car. It’s hard to compare the car to a F3 Euroseries though. On paper, they can be quite similar but on the track, they feel very different! I was mainly looking forward to using the paddle gear shift on the steering wheel since that is what GP2 and Formula 1 are using."
Official Formula Master testing continues in Vallelunga on 18 and 19 December 2007.
