Hitech Junior has confirmed it will run four cars in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship and the West European Renault Championships next season. The Silverstone-based team set up by British F3 championship winning Hitech Racing Team Principal David Hayle has already signed two drivers, FPA front-runner Luciano Bachetta and Spanish kart star Miki Monras.

The team is expected to announce the other two drivers within the next few days and has also not ruled out an assault on the UK Formula Renault Series next season. At a successful test programme in Spain last week, the first time the team has run against the European opposition, both 16 year-olds impressed immensely leaving Team Owner Hayle confident of a promising European Formula Renault debut when the season kicks off in April.

"I can’t believe how quick these two drivers were, said Hayle. "I was so impressed with their maturity which belied their inexperience. They drove as though they both had two years or more already under their belt. If that is how they drive now, imagine how they’ll be with some experience behind them.

"I was also pleasantly surprised to be up at the front at our first time in with the European opposition. We did the UK Winterseries which was a good experience but last week we were up against all the best teams in Europe and we were regularly running in the top six. Even when we weren’t, it was only due to not running on new tyres when the others were. So, all in all a very promising start to our first season in the series and this will hopefully see us on the pace from the first round."

Despite it being the first attempt at the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship for the experienced team, expectations are high to achieve the kind of results that netted 11 Formula Three race wins en route to the coveted crown this year.

"You’d like to think that the experience we’ve got in F3, which resulted in us winning the 2007 title and the 80 days testing we’ve done this season would stand us in good stead for next year. However, realistically we have two rookies, although both very quick, so if we can achieve top ten results I think that would be an achievement although of course, as always, we’ll be aiming for the top!"
