Valtteri Bottas machte auf dem Hungaroring Anfangs so weiter, wie er in Silverstone aufgehört hatte. Zwar war der Motopark Academy Pilot nicht mehr ganz so dominant - für die erste Startreihe in beiden Rennen reichte es dennoch locker. Doch bei der technischen Nachkontrolle vom Fahrzeug des Finnen stellten sich Probleme ein.

Um es Biblisch auszudrücken: Ein Teil wurde gewogen und für zu leicht befunden. Somit kam es zur Streichung aller Quali-Zeiten und aus der ersten wurde die letzte Startreihe. Glück im Unglück - da mehr Starter als für diese Strecke erlaubt angereist waren, kam es am Sonntag nochmals zu einem Entscheidungslauf für alle Piloten, die es nicht in die Superpole geschafft hatten. Als Zweitschnellster konnte Bottas so wenigstens noch Schadensbegrenzung betreiben und aus dem 38. einen 25. Startplatz machen.

Natürlich legte Teamchef Timo Rumpfkeil gegen die Strafe sofort Einspruch ein, da es sich um ein Verschleißteil handelte. Dieser wird jedoch erst am Montag beraten und somit ist mit einer endgültigen Entscheidung an diesem Wochenende nicht zu rechnen.

Beim ersten Rennen wurde dann im Startgetümmel die linke Seite von Bottas Frontflügel abgeknickt. Somit waren jegliche Chancen sich nach vorn zu arbeiten, zerstört. Um das Material nicht unnötig zu strapazieren, wurde er schließlich in die Box gerufen. Somit lag es an den restlichen drei Fahrern des Teams aus Oschersleben, für mögliche Punkte zu sorgen. Tobias Hegewald war mit Startplatz sieben im ersten Lauf gut aufgestellt.

Am Ende überquerte er als sechster die Ziellinie. So richtig zufrieden war der ehrgeizige 18-jährige damit aber noch nicht: "Ich hatte erwartet, dass heute mehr drin wäre. Leider hat mein Speed nicht ganz gepasst, um den Anschluss an die Spitze herzustellen. Ich hoffe, das es morgen von Startposition vier aus, für einen Podestplatz reichen wird."

Teamkollege Kuba Giermaziak war auf dem Hungaroring weit aus besser aufgelegt als zuletzt im englischen Silverstone. Von Rang 14 ins Rennen gegangen, reichte es letztendlich für Platz zehn und seinen ersten Eurocup Punkt.

Morgen von Position zehn aus, könnten noch einige Meisterschaftszähler hinzukommen. Die hätte auch Juan Pablo Garcia gerne. Leider reichte es bei ihm nur für Platz 18. "Ich muss unbedingt an meinen Qualifikationsfähigkeiten arbeiten um auch in Kürze unter die Top 10 zu kommen" erklärt der Mexikaner selbstkritisch.

Somit ist die Disqualifikation von Bottas zwar ein harter Schlag, dennoch zeigt die Leistung der restlichen Piloten, dass hier noch lange nichts verloren ist. Vor allem Tobias Hegewald wird alles geben, um morgen nicht mit lehren Händen nach Hause fahren zu müssen.
