Race 2 2nd

A weekend with points and podium finish for Andreas Zuber The UAE driver, who arrived in Silverstone in excellent shape from Croatia after a few days of serious fitness training in the heat. Zuber was right to feel confident after the FMSI team's results in Monaco and this weekend he added six points to his first eight of the season bringing his overall tally to fourteen after he finished eighth in race one and second in race two.

Although Andreas' memories from Silverstone were still vivid following his win from pole in the 2007 feature race, this time, Zuber could not quite reproduce the same result and finished second from his second pole on the British Grand Prix circuit, his favourite track.

Overall it was a good weekend. In the first Friday morning free practice session, on the 5.141km track Andreas, one of four drivers to have qualified in the top 6 at every race this year (with Grosjean, Petrov and Hulkenberg) prepared for the 36-lap race one and set the second fastest lap with 1.27.025. Following this, Zuber took a disappointing fourteenth in a tough qualifying session.

But this was not going to stop the Austrian born driver who lives in the UAE and races under a UAE license. In race one Andreas took a strong start and ended up eighth at the chequered flag after a trouble-free pit stop on lap 13. In the 23-lap race two, at the restart that caused an extra formation lap, Andreas could not keep the advantage ahead an extra fast Pastor Maldonado (Art Grand Prix) and finished second.

Andreas said, "What a weekend. I am really pleased with the results. The half hour of qualifying here was very tough. There was traffic and it was impossible to get into a rhythm and could not improve because of traffic. My time was slower than that in the second practice, which was further than I would have liked from pole."

Andreas had a good start in race 1 and was up to ninth at the end of the first lap. He continued to fight throughout the race but five laps before the end, Andreas' tyres were destroyed and he had to be satisfied with protecting his chance of points and finished eighth scoring one point. "This result gave me one point and also meant that I would start Sunday's race two from pole," he said.

The second race was disrupted by a safety car two laps from the finish after Clos spun and was stranded on the circuit. The safety car went in on the final turn of the final lap, but there was little more than a sprint down the final few hundred metres to the chequered flag. It was an event-free race two for Andreas who said, "I am really pleased with the podium. Unfortunately, I could not contain Maldonado who made such a strong start. I was running a comfortable second. I was maintaining the pressure on Maldonado and closing the gap. Behind me Chandock was losing ground and blocking everyone behind him.

Despite the safety car in the last two laps, there was not enough time to have a good fight with Maldonado nor change the result. At least I am on the podium on my favourite track. I am quite proud to score my first sprint race points of the season and to bring more points from the two races back home this weekend to the FMSI team. I have also seen that my car is fast and with a good strategy, I can finish a strong race.

The boys in the team have done a great job to fine-tune the car. Thanks to that I pushed to the end of the race Now, I am looking forward to Nuerburgring. I like it there too and I hope we will be able to avoid the traffic problems that we encountered here in qualifying."
