Lewis Hamilton finished this afternoon's session at the top of the timesheets, but nobody could get close to Franck Perera's stunning morning time.
ART Grand Prix's Lewis Hamilton finished this afternoon's final testing session at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, as the quickest driver with a lap of 1:23.510. Lewis' best was almost a second slower than Franck Perera's overall best time of 1:22.467, set this morning, as many drivers and teams concentrated on long runs in preparation for the first race of the season next week in Valencia.

Second quickest this afternoon was Piquet Sports driver Nelson Piquet Jr, with Tristan Gommendy third for iSport International to top off a promising test for the rookie. Clivio Piccione finished fourth for DPR Direxiv in their most competetive outing of the year so far, as Felix Porteiro also had one of his best sessions of the year to finish fifth for Campos Racing. Sergio Hernandez was another driver whose fortunes turned round this afternoon as the Durango pilot steered himself to the sixth fastest time.

Michael Ammermuller completed a solid test for Arden International in seventh with Super Nova International's Jose Maria Lopez again featuring in the top ten in eighth. Olivier Pla's ninth place saw both DPR Direxiv's in the top ten for the first time, while Alex Premat rounded out the top 10 for ART Grand Prix.

From here, the GP2 series moves straight to Valencia for the final test session of the year on April 5-6. Friday April 7 sees the official 2006 GP2 series launch, and on Saturday April 8, the 2006 season begind for real with qualifying and Race 1 of our first event of the year, at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia.
