Sigal Hopes to Celebrate Daytona Prototype Anniversary With Strong Barber Finish

Rum Bum Racing co-drivers Gene Sigal and Matt Plumb look forward to another good finish at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend in Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 competition. The Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. is the ninth Daytona Prototype race of the 2008 season, and it will mark the second anniversary for Sigalsport in the Daytona Prototype class.

Two years ago, Sigal decided to move to the ultimate class and purchased his first Dinan BMW Riley. After two full seasons at the highest level of the Rolex Series, Rum Bum Racing is eighth in the 2008 championship, a ranking right in line with its top 10 season objective.

"It has been a very positive season for us so far and I am very excited to go to Barber," said Sigal, who is also Rum Bum Racing's team owner. "Last time I raced there was with our Sigalsport BMW M3 in 2006. I like this race track.

Barber is one of the most beautiful racing facilities in the nation. I know that you need to have a good setup to do well here. We have two days to figure it out before the race. I am confident in our team's ability and our No. 7 Rum Bum.com/Big Vision Miami/Caramba Tequila Dinan BMW Riley should be competitive. The heat and humidity will be a factor too, but Matt and I are in great shape and we'll be ready for this challenging condition. Matt and I can do a good job and score another good result on Sunday.

"We have a lot going on outside the track at Barber too," Sigal added. "On Friday night, Rum Bum is inviting all race fans to attend the Rum Bum Grand-Am drivers party at Billy's on Overton in Birmingham. Matt and I and the Rum Bum girls will be there to sign autographs with other Rolex Series drivers and we look forward to welcoming race fans. It's important for Rum Bum to be close to the fans since we know that without them we will not be able to come and race.

Luis Bacardi wants to promote the Rum Bum name and this is what the team does every week on and off the track. Our associate sponsor Caramba Tequila is also going to be an active player at the party and will sample some of its latest tequilas. On Saturday night Rum Bum will also be one of the proud sponsors of the Casino Night at the Barber Museum."

"The last time I raced at Barber Motorsports Park I won the race," announced a confident Plumb, co-driver of the No. 7 Rum Bum Racing Dinan BMW Riley. "I was racing with my brother, Hugh, but it was in a front-wheel drive Acura in the KONI Challenge (Series). This time it will be harder to win but nothing is impossible! Daytona was tough for us as we fought some challenging differential problems throughout the one-day event but, as always, the team is on top of it. We will have a rebuilt gearbox this weekend and we should show well in this round."

The Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park will be broadcast live on SPEED on Sunday, July 20 at 3 p.m. ET. Practice start on Friday at 10:45 a.m. Catch timing & scoring live on Rumbumracing.com or www.grand-am.com.
