Retirement with a few laps to go for Matteo Bobbi in Mexico

Championship: Grand-Am

Circuit: Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez

Place: Mexico

Session: Race 1

Result: DNF

Matteo Bobbi

19/04/2008 - The ‘Mexico City 250´, third round of the Grand-Am 2008 championship, showed the first positive notes on the development of the Coyote-Pontiac of the Team Cheever.

Matteo Bobbi, during Friday´s qualifying, obtained in fact the eighth position (1:20.890), a result still far from the objectives both of the driver and of the team, but indicating anyway a performance improvement.

During the race, the lack of speed on straights penalized the result; Bobbi held the fifth position for part of the race but he did not have concrete chances to aim at the podium. A retirement, due to the fuel draught, occurred when five laps were still to go, and concluded therefore the racing day.

Matteo Bobbi:

"The car´s performances have improved a bit, at least in qualifying, but we are still not competitive. Unfortunately, this is the third retirement in three races due to technical failures and to this adds the fact that in the main straight we were almost 15Km/h slower than our fastest opponents.

Next weekend we will be again on track, in Virginia, for the fourth round of the season, therefore we will not have too much time to spend in developing the car. But we already knew that our season opening would have been pretty tough."
