More points for both Scuderia Playteam SaraFree cars in race two

The second GT Open Race of the weekend at Magny-Cours brought more points to the two Scuderia Playteam SaraFree cars with Giao-Couceiro finishing in fourth and Montermini-Maceratesi in fifth place.

Poleman Michele Maceratesi spun in the first corner creating a chain reaction amongst the cars following him. Manuel Giao started from the sixth row in ninth place in the team's other car.

After his spin, Maceratesi rejoined in 24th place. But the safety car was immediately deployed and Maceratesi had to wait until it came in before working his way back through the field.

Maceratesi gave the car to Montermini on lap ten having recovered to ninth place. Meanwhile Couceiro changed with Gaio while running in sixth place. Couceiro managed to overtake and bring his Ferrari F430 nr 4 home in fourth place while Montermini had climbed up to fifth.

Pedro Couceiro commented, "I am happy with the finishing position today. We had a strong race and the car was good but the safety car prevented me from coming back as strongly as I would have wanted. The start of the race was very difficult. The level of the competition was tough. We started from twelfth place and we knew it would be difficult to finish in the top three. One of the very important things to take away from this race is to have scored 20 points for our team. We did a great job despite the handicaps we were running with."

Andrea Montermini commented, "We have done what we could with what we had at the end. It's a pity that we did not do better in fact, even if I spun and lost time and positions. It's a pity because we had a car set-up to finish higher than in fifth place. But I am pleased that we are still leading the Championship with 133 points."

Manuel Giao commented, "To start from twelfth and arrive in the points in fifth place means that we did a good job. I believe it was not possible to do better today with the car we had. It was a difficult race with a ten seconds handicap. Also at one point we had damaged the bottom part of the car but it held on until the end. We have been fighting hard and tough for the championship and we kept this priority in our mind all weekend. To earn points this race was vital for us. We are now in third in the championship with 122 points. The championship is very open for the next race between the three top contenders."

Michele Maceratesi commented, "I made a mistake at the start and this reflected on the rest of the race. I accelerated too hard and I lost the car. Then we had to make up during the rest of the race. But it was impossible to get back to a good finish position on the podium. Nevertheless a fifth place brings points and this is positive for the team at this point of the championship."
