Scuderia Playteam Sarafree : qualifying 1 and 2 INTERNATIONAL GT OPEN 2008 17 May 2008 - VALENCIA - 2nd round QUALIFYING RACE 1: Today, the pole is blue and silver for both qualifying Sessions - Ferrari F430 n.3 - Michele Maceratesi \ Andrea Montermini - 1st qualifying session (Montermini): 1:35:814 - 4th - 1st free practice (Montermini-Maceratesi): 1:37:893 - 3rd - 2nd free practice (Montermini-Maceratesi): 1:38:843 - 8th - Ferrari F430 n.4 - Manuel Giao \ Pedro Couceiro - 1st qualifying session (Giao) : 1:35:507 - 1st - 1st free practice (Giao-Couceiro): 1:37:778 - 1st - 2nd free practice (Giao-Couceiro): 1:38:738 - 7th Even though the weather forecasts predicted rain, the first qualifying session of the second GT Open Series was held in overcast but dry conditions. In the session, the blue and silver colours of Scuderia Playteam Sarafree set the pace, taking pole position ahead of 31 other cars. Manuel Giao took pole in Ferrari F430 nr 4 while Montermini tookfourth place on the grid in car nr 3. "I feel quite confident starting from the pole," said Giao. "The most important part of the work has been completed by the team in the pits. We only confirmed on the track, that the main working directions were fine and everything is going well. I knew that at Valencia it would be easier to work very positively and efficiently. We must try to be perfect in therace, fight for the win and score as many points as possible." Montermini commented, "I am not very happy. I have had a lot of traffic with backmarkers who slowed me down as I was coming out of the pits and I lost a bit of time, enough to put me in fourth. The result is not bad, but not what I was expecting knowing how good our car is."
