The first International CeMAT Conference - "Future of Logistics" - will be held on 26 May under the aegis of the German Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (BMVBS), Wolfgang Tiefensee.

Attended by German politicians, it will feature high-calibre speakers from around the world who will discuss logistics mega-trends in the year 2025 with conference participants. The concluding speech will be given by Matthias von Randow, BMVBS State Secretary, on the Freight Transport and Logistics Masterplan.

One of the key talks will be delivered by Professor Anil K. Gupta, the "Ghandi of Technology" according to the German magazine Spiegel. Gupta is a Professor at the Centre for Management in Agriculture.

As a result of his unique work focusing on the autochthonous expertise of farmers and shepherds and establishing a bridge to scientific know-how, he received the honour of being elected to the Indian National Academy of Agricultural Sciences at a young age. Dr. Anil K. Gupta's desire to develop a platform serving to recognize, honour and award innovative individuals provided the impetus for the foundation of the Honey Bee Network.

Other speakers include Bonface Fundafunda from the Zambian Ministry of Health, who is responsible for the provision of medicines to the country's population. Fundafunda will speak about healthcare supply chains and drug supply in the developing world alongside Professor Prashant Yadav from the MIT-Zaragoza Logistics Center and Paul S. Lalvani, advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Prof. Dr. Klaus Mangold, Chairman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, and Dr. Christian Ketels from the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School will be analyzing the future significance of clusters in terms of the global competitiveness of enterprises and regions.

Other internationally renowned speakers will discuss logistics mega-trends in the year 2025 together with participants.

The FUTURE OF LOGISTICS is being organized by Hannover-based Deutsche Messe. The Supply Management Institute (SMI) of the European Business School (EBS) in Oestrich-Winkel/Wiesbaden, an institute concerned with strategy, purchasing, logistics and supply chain management with its own locations in Moscow, Shanghai and Bangalore, is responsible for conference planning and academic support.

The SMI depends upon the experience of a dedicated concept group, the contacts enjoyed by a high-calibre Conference Board and the support of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) in Frankfurt.

The conference conclusions will be announced during the CeMAT opening ceremony.
